Please, please, please do not hire Odom. DC first HC jobs in power 5 conferences don't go well. Let Odom go get some experience first and develop a "process."
Worked pretty good for Bob Stoops, Bert, Dabo, & Chip Kelly.

Yep, but how about Woody's frickin' Wagon, Lane Kiffin, Greg Robinson & Will Muschamp.

Petrino isn't coming here. We aren't talking to him. I don't want him. I'm not sure there's anyone in an administration position who wouldn't laugh at the suggestion.
Everyone is missing the comedy gold PLUS he's a great HC. Can you imagine the next FemNazi that says "we need some muscle over here" and Bobby's reply is "did someone call?"

Hiring a head coach is like buying a used car. There's simply nothing risk free about it. And there's no foolproof method of doing it.
Alabama has hired some bad coaches. So has Nebraksa. So has Michigan. We won't be immune to that. That's life.
Alden caught lightning in a bottle in Pinkel. No one could've dreamed of the success he'd ultimately bring to us. Let's just hope lightning strikes twice.

Realistically, that's a fact. Not sure on the laughing part but yeh there's really not a snowballs chance in hell they even consider Petrino. That's a shame.

no risk = fold program.

I hope Rhoades at least chats with Calhoun over a jumbo or two.
I recall reading about him some time back...and thinking he's a lifer at the academy (been there ~10 yrs), so don't know if he'd leave.
He's had some excellent success, especially with the difficult recruiting a military commitment adds.
Certainly worth considering.

You just made my point...you listed OFFENSIVE COACHES, Odom if DEFENSE. DC's don't work, I didn't say OS's.

In Rhoades' presser, he was strong that he wanted a "CEO" type...that HCs don't coach on the field, they coach their coaches. He also stressed he wants proven "leadership."
All this sounds to me like he's looking hard at/for someone with HC experience (despite his disclaimer that he'd entertain the idea of an assistant).

Stoops wasn't an offensive coach
What about Dantonio, wasn't MSU his first HC job?

If it can't be Herman or Fuente, then Patterson or bust. We badly need offense and TCU's offense has been absolutely deadly in his reign

Gary Patterson is a defensive guy. If you want his offense, hire Doug Meachem his OC.

With this defense we don't need a prolific offense. We need an average offense. Don't give up the jewel of your team in hopes of capturing a different colored one.

I am liking Matt Campbell more with each passing day. He's done very well at Toledo and recruited very well too.

Yeah, I can see Lock being a boss running the triple option!

Question was asked earlier, and I did not see answered anywhere: IF the HC is Odom, does Kul become DC, or is he a casualty? I think it would be a huge mistake to let him get away. He's the brand of our defense right now, even though Odom is the DC. It's Kul that puts guys in the league.
The only guy on offense I'd really want to keep for sure is Hill. But retaining Kul should be a priority.

In this order please: Kul, Ivey and maybe Hill.
Ivey is GP's ace-in-the-hole. He would be HARD to replace. Same with Kul.

Forgot about Ivey. Yes, definitely keep him. But he's not just with the football program, right? He's got a position in the AD as strength and conditioning, and I think he works with more than just the football team. He should perhaps be an AD himself one day. Gotta keep Ivey.

Does anyone know if Odom and Kul have a good relationship to where he'd want to stay?
Kul was obviously disappointed GP passed him over for Odom, but have then been any lingering hard feelings?
