re: Clownzo’s Fatal Flaws
Posted by jafo on 11/24/21 at 4:29 am
I think Clownzo has some pull at Xfinity. I was watching a damn good program on the Smithsonian channel Monday night, you know, good quality television, and it was like I hear a couple crackles and snaps and like magic, all of a sudden, I was on the CBS sports network instead of the channel I was tuned in to. What pray tell is dis? Glancing down to the bottom of the screen, I see Missouri and Florida State in the score board. How the hell did I wind up here? The bigger question is, how the hell was Mizzou getting throttled by F.S.? No, I didn't watch it. I'd say Cuonzo has had his run, time for new blood. Time for Mizzou to dig deep for a change. This new athletic director said she wants championships, well, no better place to start. Time to stop the talk and walk the walk.

I'd just like them to land in the same bracket as ku. I want a rematch.

the crowd wasn't "classless" toward Knox were they?
Nope, just hammering home the obvious mistake he made going to UK.

Oh I'm not really back, just passing through. But thank you for noticing. I have put things in priority. There are some good folks in here even ones I have disagreed with in the past. This site is not a priority anymore. I'm just not into the alter posting thing or arguing stupid pointless arguments, but once in awhile, I can't help myself.

UK got hit by the trifecta aligning. Crowd was lights out, team playing well and actual coaching going on all showed up for Mizzou. How any fan could bitch about this season compared to the last few years is beyond comprehension. The only reason Mizzou has lost other close games and had difficult down thw stretch in this one is the lack of a talented true point guard the press the ball.

Poter and Tilman will be a huge handful for teams next year. They are already sbowing signs of gaining confidence in their abilities. They are driving to the rim more.
They do need press work. But UK put a press that was almost perfect. When Mizzou gets a true point guard, that will help break those presses.
I'll take this win no matter how they got there. UK tried to get physical and Mizzou didn't back down and didn't fold under the press. That's a good sign. Matter of fact, Mizzou came back and punch'm right in the mouth. It wobbled UK. They didn't find an answer for Mizzou's defense either. It was like a blanket. They couldn't hit the 20 point mark in the 1st half! That's good D. Mizzou won this game outright, UK lost it outright. It's a "W" no matter how you want to paint it.
Knox should have picked Mizzou.
re: Anyone watching the game today?
Posted by jafo on 10/23/17 at 6:49 am
All I could think is wait until this team gels and really starts playing together. There were flashes of it here and there. The 2 minute scoring drought cost them the game. Had they been to put a few buckets in, they would have won. They are a big physical team that can run the floor and an actual shooting threat. When they really get the feel for each other watch out.

Love the block M over the tiger head. Just seemed strange being white and not gold and that helmet needs some stripes on top. Maybe the stripes they use on the tiger head helmets.
re: SEC statement on end of game

If the defense would have stepped up like the offense did late in the game, the ball punching deal wouldn't have mattered.
On the other hand I think by punching the ball out like that, it could have been flagged an unsportmanlike penalty step off te yards, the clock would have been stopped at that point.Or it could have been flagged as delay of game penalty. Either way that part was the officials fault.
But still, had the defense stepped up in the 4th, this wouldn't be an issue.

re: Barry Odom wasn't handed an awesome team

I think we are all seeing, promoting an assistant to head coach in the SEC is not a good idea. Seen the same with Anderson. Competition on and off the field is much higher and you have to meet a certain talent level with both recruits and coaches. I think there is plenty of talent on the roster. I think Mizzou did not reach that talent level with hiring Odom and in turn hiring his assistants. I think with the right coach and staff, it could easily be turned around. This team and school has really lost it's identity. D-line zou etc. is gone. It left with coach Kul. The players looked outmatched. Glaringly against Auburn. I don't think it's a matter of talent or strength. I hink it's a matter of confidence and leadership.
re: What now?
Posted by jafo on 9/20/17 at 9:59 am
Unless you know 100% for sure who is eaxtcly to blame, you really can't say. One of these coaches, preferably Odom, has to step in and put a foot to arse. That is a start. He needs to evaluate what exactly is going on around him. Odom can do that. He has been around enough winning programs to identify these things. Then start evaluating players. Stary benching players that do not perform, example, miss takles, missed assignements, dropped balls etc. Bench'm. Odom has to take the helm here and start steering this boat, it's his boat. Sterk needs to light the fire. I still think Odom can do it, but he's got to be the one to start things. Players only meetings only go so far. That tells me right there, there are players NOT performing at the necessary level and other players who are see it. It would be wixe open right now. If you j7st walked on and can catch a damn ball, you're playing. If you can tackle, you're playing. If you can get up feild and show maximum effort, you're playing. If you fall short, there's a new water boy.
re: DaRon Davis will join Mizzou soon
Posted by jafo on 9/20/17 at 9:49 am
I work with his uncle. We have talked about him several times. He said Davis has been down on himself pretty hard for not qualifying right off. Worked his arse off to get back and did it. Said he is an acceptional young man. I believe him. Not easy. If he puts the effort into football he has into this, he should be pretty good.

Now being in the SEC, it makes it worse. In the big nasty, we had a few games where we could play up and possibly win some. In the SEC not so much.

I didn't watch but like two posessions of the game. Watched the offense go into a shell on their first posession. Then watched the defense make two great plays on Purdues 2nd posession only to lay down and give up a 1st down on a 3rd and 11. I could see nothing had changed from last week. I just don't see the effort or focus there. Either due to coaching or players, there is something amiss. I don't know if Odom can fix it. We'll see.
re: Why Kansas and Mizzou hate each other.

It goes beyond sports. It's a culture thing. Been that way for decades. Won't ever change. Grew up hating anything kansas and still do.
re: What's the Spill on Knox?
Posted by jafo on 4/23/17 at 8:45 am
There is some confusion going on over there. One guy posted an aquaintence of his lived next door to knox's grandparents and they said his Mizzou visit was great and that he liked the Mizzou campus the best. So it made it look favorable.
Then another guy over there posted info that a friend of his talked to CJ Robertson who in turn had been texting Knox jr. himself and said that Knox told him he woukd not be coming to Mizzou. That in turn set off a spin of crazed speculation and basic shite throwing contest.
Also on Tilmon. Some guy knows a person who is academically involved with Tilmon. Said that Tilmon will be lucky to qualify. So to no ones surprise there is talk for the first time of Jay Porter to reclassify now. Nothing for certain.
As far as Knox jr. I'm still saying nothing has changed in my mind because no credible sources to my knowledge have saud anything. Will he come to Mizzou? I have no idea. But I have a hard time beleiving that Knox would tell anyone of his plans long before his announcement dates. They have closey guarded things the entire recruitment why would he start spilling info now? On the other hand it could be possible.
So I'm just setting back and waiting. If he comes, great. If he doesn't I still repsect the kid. He and his parents have ran a reapectable recruitment.

I don't think it's a big secret that playing time will have an effect on his decision, it has been mentioned a lot by more than one source. Whether he prospects out to be better or not, doesn't guarantee him as many minutes with the blue bloods compaired to seminoles or Mizzou.
re: Crystal Ball in for Knox

Still think he comes if Tilmon comes or when he's on board.
He knows what duke, nc, kcats and siminoles have. I actually think it's more between Mizzou and siminoles. He can get the most minutes with either of those programs. It comes down in my mind to playing with talent and friends (Mizzou) or dads alma mater(less talent and maybe less friends).
One domino has fallen, Harris. Domino number two would be Tilmon. After that I think Porter has all the bullets needed to convince Knox to commit. It will be an epic upset of the blue bloods.

Pace would be dictated by the point. From what I've seen of Harris, he is a hi tempo guy. Harris pushes and has the raw talent to push the ball to the basket. He reminds me of Flip a lot. He makes the bone headed decisions at times, but it's a trade off until and if you can get him to make better decisions as he gets experience. Not to mention as we all know he is an above average passer.
I'm not a hi IQ basketball person, I have played a little. But I think the success of a team boils down to two things in the end. Continuity between the players, how well they gel together and talent level. Ok three things, the last is a coach that can get the under achievers to step up and produce. But, having talented players like what CM has recruited can do the same thing.

It appears. Probably for the better I agree. I'll just mark this one down as a brain fart on my behalf. Time to carry on.
