Do y'all not miss the days of actually not giving up 400 yards a game every year? Even in AU's 2 championship years in 2010 and 2013, the defense was bend don't break or porous at best.

So look at me with a straight keyboard and tell me you believe in Gus going forward.

You're asking like 6 different questions.

I don't care, at all, about going back to an emphasis on defense over offense. 2010 and 2013 were great.

I do want to keep Gus as a coach.

My confidence in Gus, on the other hand, took a big blow this year and I am 50-50 as to whether he'll rebound.

I believe in Malzahn. He just needs to go back and look at the offense he ran in 2013 and stick to mainly running. Defense has played well the past 2 games.

Defense has improved. It's the offense that sucks. He gets next year to get things turned around.

I was kinda hoping they would fire him after this year.

When they fired Chiz so soon after he won a national title I thought "this is the program of the future!" But if they keep Gus after this year it was a onetime thing.

Eventually programs will get wise to the fact that most national title winning coaches do it quickly when they get to a program. Giving a new guy three years just because, or keeping a guy after a bad season because of previous success, in most cases doesn't work out. Every coaching hire is a roll of the dice.

Eventually some program will realize this and blow through coaches at a two year pace till they find "the one."

I still believe.

He made the right hire at DC.

I think football culture has just become so spoiled where you expect too much turnaround in three years.

He probably did not help himself doing as well as he did in 13 tbh.

We have good RBs. Our defense is headed the right way, we just need good qb and non-stone hand wide receivers.

This year was a disaster, but so far, there has only been one game where we really had no shot.

By the end of the year, there will have only been two.

The defense looked better, albeit against aTm & UGA's putrid offenses, but the D looks improved.

That offensive playcalling is not good. And Gus feeding Barber the ball when Robinson appears to move it better is weird. Then the whole decision to put a gimpy QB in the game when he was obviously lame is strange. The fact that Gus didn't realize that Johnson was a headcase and afraid of contact before the season started should be worrisome to AU folks.

If I were an AU fan, I'd want Gus fired simply to keep the pattern going

Gene
1. National championship game
2. Mid level season
3. Shitty season. Fired coach (Chizik)
Gus
1. National championship game
2. Mid level season
3. Shitty season. Fired coach (Gus)

1. National championship game

I absolutely do not believe in Gus. I think most Auburn fans are just hoping he figures something out because we are stuck with him since our athletic director has no clue what he is doing.

Gus needs to get super focused on recruiting quarterbacks who can run his system. it doesnt work without a running quarterback and a good offensive line. We took a lot of injuries on the OL this year.

Muschamp will get the defense back where it needs to be. Theres been improvement this year, but with no real QB with any confidnece, the offense has been ridiculous.

pruitt has allowed 8.5 ppg to gus in his tenure. As long as we have pruitt, I hope gus sticks around too.

Auburn has played for a National title twice in my life time, Gus was part of both of those times.

I am ride or die with Gus. I believe he will turn it around.

He hired Muschamp. I'll give him a couple more years to turn it around.

You are very wrong... certainly you can find some fans who want a change. But I stand with Gus.

I am still very much on the Gus bus, and I hope he is our coach for a long time. But to be that, he is going to have to learn from this disaster of a season. He has to be willing to bring in someone that can develop our QBs and the passing game. He and Lashlee can't/don't do it.

There is no schematic reason why we can't or shouldn't have an intermediate passing game. It can't just be screen or chuck it deep. And it damn sure can't be horrible footwork, mechanics, inability to go through progressions, etc. That stuff has got to get fixed. If Gus does that, he will be very successful at Auburn for a long time. If he doesn't, he'll get fired.
