Just this week I have moved by back to my families neck of the woods in the Mississippi Delta. Though some may say its a shite hole and has become a total wasteland, I have a weird sense of pride for the place, I honestly believe its in my DNA. My question is for suggestions on restraunts, night life, anything that would be of entertainment.

I would be interested to hear specifics about the "pride for the place."

I'm from the Delta and idk how anybody can deny that it fricking sucks. Moving back here for work was one of the saddest days of my life.

Whereabouts in the Delta?

I've spent some time in Greenwood and while I can't speak for "nightlife" they have some good restaurants with Giardinas (my favorite), Luscos, and the Crystal Grill.

Depends on where you are living.

Blues - Ground Zero in Clarksdale, Blue Front Café in Bentonia. Walnut Street Blues Club in Greenville. Po Monkey's in Merigold.

Greenwood - Giardina's, Lusco's, Crystal Grill

Coleman's BBQ in Hernando, MS

Zero Nightlife that you don't make for yourself.

Night life is non-existent for the most part unless you go to some bars like Webster's in Greenwood. Cleveland would be your best bet for some night life since it's a college town.

As far as restaurants go, there are a decent amount of good places to eat. Greenwood has the Crystal Grill and Lusco's. Giardina's is ok but their quality IMO has gone down a bit in the last few years. Pea Soups in Indianola is pretty good. If you're looking for pizza then The Lost Pizza Co. is where I would go.

Abe's BBQ in Clarksdale is pretty legit but I haven't eaten there in almost 4-5 years.

Best steak in the entire Delta (hell, probably all of Mississippi) is at Doe's in Greenville. It's in a shady part of town but I've never had any issues getting there or leaving.

Delta Bistro Pub and Serios are newer restaurant/bars in Greenwood. I've enjoyed both the few times I've been.

I pretty much live there during duck season but we're usually gassed after a days hunt that all we care about is getting a pizza from the Dollar General.

Doe's is the only place I've eaten down there that sticks in my memory. I'd definitely eat there again even though it's location is somewhat less than desirable.

The delta is an interesting place. My grandparents live in between Yazoo City/Satartia and Vicksburg. I don't think I could ever live there but I love visiting. Something about sitting on 500+ acres that has it's appeal

The delta is littered with several neat little mom & pop eateries and dives. It's an unappealing place to most, yet draws tourism. It's quite a different place.

Go to Po Monkeys in Marigold or Ground Zero in Clarksdale. Other than that, gamble your face off at the many casinos. Lot of good plate lunches in the Delta though.

Night Life for people not in college: The Blue Biscuit in Indianola, Websters in Greenwood... A few places in Clarksdale. I'm more of a South Delta person...

I've got plenty of opinions on food:

Cleveland has plenty
-Airport Grocery
-Hey Joe's
-The Warehouse

Greenville/Leland
-Doe's
-Vince's

Greenwood
-Lusco's
-Crystal Grill
-Webster's

Indianola
-Nola
-Blue Biscuit
-Lost Pizza

Yazoo City
-Hines Grocery
-P-Reaux's

Belzoni
-Allison's

I farm so my entertainment usually has something to do with that... There really isn't much to do I guess. Most people just go out to eat on Friday and Saturday and that's when most socializing goes on.

My wife's mother grew up in Tunica. I had to spend Christmas there this past year. Wanted to kill myself by trying to jump in the river and swim to Arkansas.

What part of the delta?

As far as night life..nothing in Greenwood worth shite anymore. Blue Biscuit in Indianola on Saturday night is fun, Blues Bar or Spectators in Greenville on Saturday can be fun if you catch it when there's a good band playing. Thursday nights at Sharpestreet (Pickled Okra bar) in Cleveland is always fun..5 dollar cover all you can drink beer. I go every thursday cause it gets a solid female crowd from DSU.

As far as restaurants..the Delta is solid. Pick anything and it's good. Crystal Grill, Luscos, Websters, Delta Bistro in Greenwood. Nola, Sookies, Pea Soups in Indianola. Town Market, Hometown in Inverness. Lillos, Ciceros, Vinces in Leland. Greenville and Cleveland have numerous options for food...Belazar's in CLeveland is a favorite of mine as well as the new place in Ruleville called 1933 though it's really expensive.

The Onward Store on Hwy 61 in southern Sharkey County has an incredible plate lunch now... Don't know about their dinner menu but lunch is on point.
