Would really suck, but can't blame him

Really? I find that hard to believe.

He was one of our best recruiters. Hopefully Sumlin can turn it into an #upgrade

Not really worried about his loss. Beaty was a recruiter, but I'd rather have a real coach at WR. Our WR play has diminished under his watch in year 3.

Now that is believable.

Beaty is and was a real coach. Being a good recruiter doesn't preclude that. He turned a few nobodies into stars. Malcolm Kennedy, Mike Evans, Darrell Walker, Travis Labhart, Josh Reynolds....these guys have shown an enormous amount of development under Beaty.

Best of luck to him! It's bittersweet to lose staff.
Regarding our DC search, perhaps I'm far too demanding and thusly not being realistic, but I was hoping to have some real progress by now, as in, working out details of a contract.
Boom, to me, is a pipe dream so he's out of play.
I wish we as a program wouldn't play this so close to the vest. I'm sure the 2015 prospects have been kept in the loop, and to see none opting out may be a good sign.
I want immediate satisfaction, dammit!

What makes you think that. Based on BL I think were every bit of a players as Auburn or USCe. It won't be much longer. Dominoes will start falling.

whether you believe it or not, Muschamp is in play. Everyone is in a rush but this is so much beyond "we'll offer you $X" to consider.
There are a number of factors at each option he's weighing from how many ships he gets to build a defense, how much staff control he has, how well the school will market him, how much control he'll get over practice schedule, and the situation for the defense. He met with Sumlin (fairly certain just a phone call) yesterday and the conversation was positive.
But he's got several good options on the table. He's doing due diligence like he should and he's weighing the important factors to him and his future. Making the right choice right now can mean the difference between being a career DC or reinvented himself. I think we'll hear something one way or another Monday.
In the mean time, we're not sitting on our hands

Lots of open positions this year, with many being head coaching jobs. It is kinda a seller's market that we are in, and I just glad we aren't shopping for a head coach right now.

I know you're captain hate everything TexAgs, but get over yourself. They're right more often than any other side and likely have the best connections.

All positives.. Thanks to Yall and 94.
If we get Boom, I will hold my tongue but I suspect I will never like him as a person.

What's the alternative? A lot of he said-he said crap that satisfies nobody and makes you wonder if the current staff and/or candidate are insane, I'd think.

I seriously doubt that. I would hope not.

Understood.

I mean, what is the real deadline for a hire? The December dead period?

Any new leads on the DC front? Or a time table?

I would think so, but I'm about as far out of the loop as you can get. I'll be surprised if a new DC isn't announced by this time next week.
