What is the minimum you will accept from the Hoops team this year?

What is the bare minimum you will not be calling for Anderson's head over? I personally think that if we don't reach the round of 32, I want someone else. We're passed the point of "getting his players in". If there isn't a major step forward this year on execution and play on the road, I'll be questioning Anderson heavily. It's time for all of the preaching to take effect.

Making the NCAAT no higher than a 10 seed. This team should be a single digit seed.
I would say to at least win 1 NCAAT game too, but I still wouldn't call for his head if we had a strong season and lost in the first round to a good team.

about 18 wins
it's really hard to call for Mike's head when he's had a winning record every season, all the while our fatass football coach makes a million more per year and can't muster an SEC win.

Schedule is tougher this year, but league schedule is softer.
@Clemson, @SMU, @Iowa State are no easy tasks.
Dayton, Milwaukee, Iona, Utah Valley, and Wake Forest are no gimmes. A handful of those are their conferences defending regular season champions or tourney champs.
We have 13 OOC games. 7 of those teams played in the post season a year ago. 1 made an Elite Eight run. One made a sweet 16 run. Two made the NIT Final Four, and one played for the NIT title.

We have a tourney schedule this year for sure. Simply playing Iowa State on the road is huge, even if we lose.

I think we have to make the tourney or he's in trouble.
eta: i get 3 downvotes for that? it's so innocent. btw- that's not even really my opinion on mike, i love him- it's my thought on his job security.

1-8 seed
or
8+ seed but advance to at least round of 32
no more excuses
That said, I think we can do it

I completely forgot that the Hogs are coming to Clemson. That game's on a Sunday at 5 and I live only an hour away. I'll be there with the wife.

Hopefully Clemson won't be as awful as they were last year, and we'll get a quality OOC road win.

Sweet 16 honestly, but I guess I'll settle for dancing.

To be fair, if our football schedule was as easy as our basketball schedule we would have 10+ wins by the end of the season.

A Deep run in the NIT.
I still think it's too early to call for Anderson's head.

Ridiculous to think abut "calling for his head". As if.
Hogs should be a solid 20 win team this year. Could make a run at the SEC championship, but of course the NBA team from Lexington will be there also.

They need to make it to the tournament this year or I will start to doubt Mike a little bit. He has his flaws as a coach, but I like him and the hogs look like they are on the edge of returning to that early to mid 90's form where nobody wanted to play them.

20 wins and round of 32 minimum. IT IS TIME!!!!

I personally think that Mike gets 4-5 more years anyway by default. I think he's the best coach for this school and the way we play.
There is a lot of great in state talent coming up in the next couple of years. Granted, many of those will probably be a one and done which doesn't really work for us, but I believe we are just a couple of pieces away from being a really special team.
If we get a PG like the PG's of old (Corey Beck, Lee Mayberry) that can really be a floor leader and direct the offense to go along with the talented big men and wings we've had...I think we are in the hunt with Mike as HC.
I do think we make the tourny this year. This is the same team that beat KY twice last year. We can play with anybody when we put it all together.

Well, he is rumored to have been promised the Practice Facility and the chance to use it via recruiting.
Not that it matters as barring key injuries, the team will make the tourney.

I've heard Durahm compared to Beck with the way he plays.
I think people mis-remember what Beck did for the team, it wasn't a "floor general" role, it was how he wasn't afraid to play between the blocks for rebounds or posting up other PGs.
The teams of that time period all had "swagger" before it was "swagger".

Way to early for a thread like this. Mike's teams have improved on and off the court every year he has been here since taking over the dumpster fire from Faiphrey. Baring major injury this team will easily make the tournament anyways.

quote:Which is why I want him gone if he can't get this current roster to the tourney. We were waiting on the talent, now we have it. Time for results. All you have to do is be one of the best 64 teams. If he can't achieve that with this team, I will rapidly lose faith in his ability to coach.
