Saban can't get it up so it's pretty easy for him to be master of his domain.

Because Saban is who brought it back into the conversation as being a great job. Saban could go to all of the six best schools in the SEC and make it appear to be a "great" job, or at least better than what it is.
That still doesn't change the fact that Alabama, at the present time, is the best job in college football.

I hate this term. Everyone is going to be biased. I think a better way to put it is Alabama is the best job for Saban. He would not be a good fit at Texas.

If money is the only factor, Texas can outbid Alabama (and everyone else for that matter) easily.

Alabama would match it.
Alabama would have to drop their state's income tax to match it.

The demographics in this thread are very interesting.
It can be broken down thusly:
LSU fans - "Texas is a better job than Alabama, basically because I hate Alabama more than Texas. That, and Texas can and will pay more because their boosters are oil men and Alabama boosters are just rednecks who probably live in trailers and may not even have jobs in the first place."
Virtually everyone else - "Um... no."
No bias there or anything.

Even with the assumed recruiting advantage, the entire state of Texas has only won 1 NC since 1970. Compare that to Florida, Alabama, or LA. Oklahoma takes who they want and they win titles and own the Horns. The best recruits are in the deep south, and Saban is tearing it up right now.
I believe this is more reflective of the coaching than the schools themselves. None of those schools win championships with Akers, McWilliams, or Mackovic. On the other hand, Stoops, Saban, Myer, and similar coaches can win multiple NC's at Texas. As mediocre as Mack Brown is as a coach, he even has one.

Not anymore. Poor, sad, optionless, bevo-dong-stroking dirt burglars.

I dont think you are getting the point man. Alabama is obviously better than Texas right now but Texas is bar none the best job right now.
If Nick Saban leaves Alabama. Alabama wouldn't be as great of a job.
If Mack Brown left Texas. Texas would still be the best job.
Just b\c Nick Saban has done amazing things at Alabama doesn't make it the best job. If he leaves, a lot of things go with him.

Disagree. The potential is there but Darrell Royal was the only person who was able to ever fully exploit it.
But even if it is the best job in college football, how much more would he accomplish at Texas that he hasn't already accomplished at Alabama? He's won more national championships at Alabama in the last 4 years than Texas has in the last 40.

He got total control from the kings of Control bama, I think he can get the same gig at Texas . Depends on if a challenge motivates him . IMO he stays at bama

fricking this..
Austin>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Tuscaloosa - or Auburn for that matter.

Anyone who thinks Alabama can't "afford" 10 mil is delusional.
Also, ^ is a troll post.

quote:And they all thought Bama was a freakin fool to pay Saban that much money. Folks said, Saban has "never gone undefeated" - he's "never stayed in a job longer than 5 yrs" - he'll "never win like he did at LSU" - he'll "never recruit at the level he did at LSU" - -- - - -- - - -
Everyone remembers that Bama made him the highest paid coach in America at 4 million a year
Now folks think Saban is worth +$10mm/yr????? And two of the kings of college football will start a bidding war for the man?

Yes it is. All of his kids are grown and Austin is one of if not the top city in the south. Saban leaves Alambama soon

I do find it interesting that all these LSU fans think they have the insight into "what makes Saban tick" when he has now been at Bama longer than he was in Baton Rouge. Yet, we Bama fans are delusionally ignorant about the true nature of the Dark Lord. Only the LSU fans can glean the inner workings of the Saban mind.

Texas is definitely the best job in the country. If the right coach slides in there..
