Texas is a great job. It's a top-five job. Maybe a top-three job. But it's not a better job than Alabama.

No state income tax in Texas.

Yep, that was a selling point in assembling the current Miami Heat team. No state taxes in Florida...a big chunk of change.

At this particular point in time, Alabama is a better job than Texas. How could you argue any other way? Alabama pulled in #1 recruiting classes in 2008, 2009, 2011, 2012, and 2013. Alabama has facilities and a support staff that are second to none. Alabama has one of the nicest looking stadiums in all of college football. Alabama has tradition and history that is second to maybe only Notre Dame. Alabama has gone 64-7 since 2008. Alabama has won 3 of the last 4 national championships. Nick Saban has complete control of the program.

With all of the above, how can you argue that Texas is currently the better job?

He did leave the dolphins for less money a year(500k), but gained a longer contract with more bonus money that had a much higher value. Alabama wont match Texas or a serious pro team, they will go up to the 8-9 with bonuses and maybe add some length to the deal, but thats it. Ultimately its going to take more than 10 mil to lure Saban away, and thats not happening

Uncle Sam takes the biggest bite not the state. 10 million a year will wind up as Obama money so the greater the income the more Saban works for Uncle Sam.

Possibly the dumbest post I've ever read on these boards.

The thing that no one ever seems to question (or answer).
What is Saban going to do with $10 million?
He takes like 4 days of vacation now barely. He doesn't need the money.

How is his life going to be that much better with another $4mil?

I keep seeing people post he would be the only college coach to win national titles at 3 different schools, but isn't he the only college coach to win national titles at 2 different schools? Who else am I missing that also won national titles at 2 different schools?

A chance to go to a huge program and turn it around using his recruiting connections (especially in LA and Texas) would be great. He would be competing for a championship in 2-3 years with an easy route through his conference.

And

Austin (however overrated it is) >>>>> Tuscaloosa

Texas my have the highest RATED recruits but, for the most part, they are just like Ga. kids. Soft; marsh mellow soft. They have been getting their shite pushed in for years.

The LHN is a big problem. It requires 3 coaches shows per week and ridiculous access to the program that is a major distraction. It also puts 3 games a year on a network no one sees.

That to me is the only big factor that swings the pendulum in Alabama's favor.

Hopefully Alabama has several good coaches on their list if Saban were to leave. I will never have bad feelings toward coach Saban if he doesn't retire at Bama, but chooses to peruse another challenge elsewhere.

He turned around our program and Alabama has a history of winning. Winning big with the right coach.

God DAMN I hate these stupid arse threads. You wishful fricks believe:

1. Texas would offer Saban 10+ million a year.
2. Saban would leave the SEC for the clusterfrick that is the Big 12.
3. Saban is more concerned about money than anything.

You're all fricking stupid and it answers a lot of questions as to why our country is struggling in so many areas. It's because you're stupid. I'm glad I'm not stupid like you. Maybe you're all just very young. But, still, you're stupid even for youngsters.

if Texas really is offering 10 million (or whatever) Saban is a dummy for not taking it.

Alabama would match it.

I bet that would make some athletic directors nervous. Some coaches, including Les Miles, have a provision in their contract that automatically gives them a raise to the highest paid coach in the country if they win the NC. A Bama-UT bidding war that spiked Saban up to $10 million would make that a much more interesting clause in the contracts.

Because Saban is who brought it back into the conversation as being a great job. Saban could go to all of the six best schools in the SEC and make it appear to be a "great" job, or at least better than what it is.
