but are you really naive too think Saban world never leave Alabama because it's it's "Alabama"?
I think he won't leave because he's put down roots here. Especially since the tornado he is very connected to the community. His kids attend the school. His wife loves it. He's like 63 years old. And really no one can give him a better opportunity.

Texas may have more money and better recruiting. But if you factor everything about a program: winning tradition, money, recruiting, conference alignment, fan base, dedication to the football program, etc etc etc there is no OVERALL better job than Alabama. None.

In summation, He's already winning championships and recruiting better than anyone in the country. He likes it here. He's sixty-something years old. It's very unlikely he leaves. And if you think it's likely you haven't been paying attention

You forgot to add that his son and daughter-in-law will be having a baby girl in Tuscaloosa in December. I doubt Mrs. Terry would allow him to move right after their granddaughter is born even if he wanted to (which he doesn't...could have had the Texas job twice now and didn't take it).

LSU fans seem to think he has the same mentality at 62 and after 7 years at Bama (his longest tenure anywhere) as he did at 53 when he left LSU. He doesn't.

No state tax in Texas.

Property tax differential between Bama and Texas could make up for that state income tax differential.

It is cute how Bama fans call Saban's wife "Mrs Terry". Is that your school teacher?

By a LONG shot. We're talking one of the lowest property taxes in the country versus one of the highest. When you own multi-million dollar properties that's a huge difference.

You call the schoolteacher Mrs. Lastname, you call female elders you know personally Mrs. Firstname.

Honest question....how in the hell do you presume to know what Saban thinks or is thinking?

Y'all are too cute. I guess people do, do that, especially old people. That is a Southern thang I guess. I doubt that poster knows her personally though.

What Saban is thinking personally? I don't know. Ive only met the man twice and wouldn't presume to think that those interactions were enough to "know" what he is thinking. I do know what he's told other people that we both know - a coach on staff, someone in football operations, a mutual business associate.

His thought process about "the next thing" is different now than it was ten years ago. He's more settled in here than he's been anywhere else. Starting over at his age is not as appealing as it was a decade ago. He's very aware of "legacy" and another move makes moving around part of that legacy. Staying put means that each move was a career advancement until he find his final job where he could really build and grow something. That and winning championships matter to him. He is aware of the record of championships by a single coach and he thinks that is in his reach.

Again, he's not told ME any of these things, but he's told people who are close to him.

Saban already said he hates the state of alabama and the people. He also said that he's moving out of alabama as soon as he retires in 2 years. He's got a pretty good gig going paying all of those players out of that new church he's building down there.

I suspect people in LA don't flip out over a college football coach like they do in Bama. I could be wrong though.

I think you're wrong

I think one of the issues that led to him leaving LSU was not just the lure of trying the NFL as a head coach but also people in Louisiana worshiped him and he didn't feel the same sense of urgency from the LA population to win after winning a NC
