quote:Quick fact and tidbit for you: In Gus Malzahn's 3 years at Auburn (2009, 2010, and 2011), Auburn outrushed LSU in 2 of those seasons. And the only time LSU out rushed Auburn during that time period was when Auburn lost 31 contributors from the 2010 National Championship Game. And they barely out rushed them then.

What was the score in 2011 again. We didn't need to run when our terrible qbs were tossing bombs

Of course. It's the defense for the cheap HUNH. If the NCAA allowed defenses to sub with the offenses, this would be fine. If the offense subs players, the defense should be allowed to sub a package just as the offense is and get to set up. If the offense keeps the same guys on the field, no interference.
HUNH is for teams who can't outsmart teams or have lesser talent so they force the defense into unfair packages. Oregon is the worst at this. They purposely keep the ball near their sideline even to help quicken how fast their subs get in so the defense has no chance to change packages. That's all I care about.
if the offense can sub, the defense should be able too as well.

The reality is that you are just arbitrarily assigning meaning to the phrase "good old football" to make it fit your narrow view of what football should be.
There was a time when "good old football" didn't include extra points or the forward pass.

Saban was setting this whole plan up when he talked about more injuries. They'll just have a player they won't be using the next few plays to fake the injury. Smart move. Use the rules to your advantage, like the HUNH is doing.

Yeah but that tempo is just another way to control the defense like those plays. Also, malzhans offenses are heavily geared toward power running. I understand you don't like it, everyone has their right to dislike what they want to but to encourage faking injuries is kinda whiny.

Hasn't LSU added HUNH to their offensive repertoire? Regardless, what about when a team is down with < 2:00 to go in the game? Still time for "real football"?

No. The current rules say as soon as the official leaves the ball the play starts. But there is zero chance for the defense to sub and set up. Oregon has the players ready, soon as play is over they run out, subs run off, and play starts within 10 seconds giving the defense zero chance to sub an adequate package into the game. So basically you end up with linebackers on slot receivers constantly or nickel and dime packages vs run formations because you can't sub in time.
If you sub on offense. The official should stand over the ball and allot the defense an additional 3-5 seconds to respond to the offensive changes.
