Thanks Texas A&M for Debunking the SEC Myth

For years now we’ve been told that the SEC as a conference is untouchable. It’s been a buzzsaw of a conference where week-in and week-out teams embark on WWIII just to survive. And for years now I’ve argued that the SEC has been the most top-heavy conference in the nation, and is solely the product of having the best team in the nation the last 6 years. It’s been tough trying to get people to listen to this argument, but finally this past Saturday Texas A&M made the argument for me beautifully.
So let’s look at what happened Saturday. On Saturday, in the pinnacle of SEC palaces, against the crème de la crème of ESSSSSS EEEEEEE SEEEEEEE football (yes, you actually have to say it slower now like Jesse Palmer because it’s just that dominant), a middle of the road Big XII team (and yes, Texas A&M has never done shite in the Big XII in decades) debunked every single myth about the SEC.
For years we’ve been told these SEC defenses would shred the likes of the Big XII offenses. For years we were told those offenses couldn’t handle the SEC pounding. Well no one commented on the fact that Alabama’s LBs are fvcking slow as shite and might as well be playing in sand. No one commented on the fact that these defenses (while very good) are VASTLY overrated due to the fact that SEC offenses are an abortion for the most part. So let’s examine what happened.
Using a basic “Big XII offense”, a freshmen-led team scored 3 straight TDs and was 15 of 16 to start the game passing. Texas A&M did exactly what any other Big XII team would have done in the SEC on offense. They spread em out and made their slow LBs play in space. Think it’s a fluke? This A&M team, again lead by a freshmen, has now surpassed 400 yards in 8 straight SEC games. So much for that 800 lb gorilla of a conference. Think it’s not so cut and dry? The most glaring evidence is in Texas A&M’s defensive numbers this season.
Since joining the SEC you would have thought A&M returned their entire defense when, in reality, outside of Moore and Porter they lost almost everyone from a year ago. Their defense is the number 27 defense in the nation this year, they were SEVENTY last year! But, ok, whatever, I’ll buy that maybe their defense just made substantial improvement this offseason. Maybe it’s not the result of no offense in the SEC having a pulse, and the QBs being so bad AJ “wishes he was Greg McElroy” McCarron actually gets in the Heisman discussion.
WRONG!
When Texas A&M, this number 27 ranked defense that has been holding its own in the SEC, went out of conference they had FIFTY-SEVEN points dropped on them by Louisiana fvcking Tech. Their defense is no better than last year they’re just playing scrub offenses.
The most glaring point this game did was only reinforce how much Oklahoma State got screwed last year. That offense would have THROTTLED either of LSU or Alabama, zero doubt about it. The conference is no better than other conferences it’s just had the best team in its league each year and as such everyone else has road their coattails.
Insert standard “tl/dr” response by homer SEC fans.

You need to take that LSU off from beside your name
Go back to Cali, gay boy. And take your spread offense with you.

Or maybe Bama just wasn't the juggernaut everyone made them out to be?

just think of the numbers Manziel would be putting up in the big 12. Also look at what LSU and Florida did to A&M

Kevin Sumlin is a good coach for those small conferences but if he had to play in the SEC, he'd average 5 losses a season.

But TAMU is NOW an SEC team...so Big 12 logic doesn't apply.
Like the thread yesterday on the Rant..."Too bad TAMU wasn't in the Big 12 anymore, because they would be undefeated and playing for the title!"

Aren't you a Clemson fan? Are you mad South Carolina has crushed your explosive offense three straight years?

Because firing Mike Sherman and hiring Kevin Sumlin, one of the best coaches in the country, had absolutely nothing to do with their improvement.
ETA: Also, A&M had a double digit lead in every game they lost last year, but one. They just choked in the second half, just like this year. Oh, and A&M lost to Arkansas lost season, so we actually saw what happened when last year's A&M played an SEC team. They lost.

This is the whole problem with the SEC mythos, you guys can't see the trees for the forest. in 2010, A&M was 9-3 and tied for the best record in the Big XII. Last year they were 6-6 after 5 epic 2nd H meltdowns, including games were they had big leads on a top 5 SEC team, Arkansas and #3 OSU. They were not a talentless team. But if all you do is look at standings over a several year span, they haven't won anything, but they do have talent.

SEC retards around here say that "gimmick offense" (good offenses) will never work in the SEC. Chip Kelly could never win in the SEC. Those SEC defenses would kill his offense. He would lose AT LEAST 4 conference games a season.

I don't say any of those things. Though Chip Kelly did get his arse kicked by the SEC's best team last season.
I think the "SEC is invincible!" is a stupid argument. But that doesn't excuse the OP's even dumber argument that the SEC is exposed because A&M, a team that's been on the cusp, hired a good coach and is now en route to finishing 3rd in the SEC West.

So now they suddenly become an SEC style team? A&M plays exactly like Oklahoma State did last year and they're not even as good as OK ST was last year.
