I will say Hollywood is one of my least favorite QT movies though. I have no idea why that movie is so beloved; it’s nowhere near top tier Tarantino IMO.

I get that and wasn’t sure how I felt about it the first time I saw it tbh, in part because I just had this melancholy feeling the whole time since I know what happened to Sharon Tate. But after repeated viewings i appreciated its greatness. Never got there with the Kill Bills. Some scenes are great rewatchables but overall doesn’t do it for me,

It’s close with OUATIH, pulp, and resovior dogs - mainly a personal favorite of mine I think it wipes the floor with kill bill tho

100% on the Kill Bill.

Micheal Keatons played the character Ray Nicolette previously in Out Of Sigh

Jackie Brown was first, I think QT pushed to let the studio that made Out of Sight use the Ray Nicholette character because they didn’t have rights to that character. Keaton isn’t even credited in OOS, just a cameo role.

Out of sight is a banger too

100% and absolute peak JLo, she is smokin hot in that movie

I know some people like to argue it’s better than Pulp Fiction which is pure contrarianism imo. I think it’s great but a notch below what I consider his 3 masterpieces: Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Basterds and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Jackie Brown and then Reservoir Dogs round out the top 5 for me.

So what? Cops don’t know about the $500k. And Melanie, a known associate of a felon, has got the marked bills. Who would believe her? Ordell? He didn’t believe Louis. Why would he believe Melanie.

If Melanie and Louis are telling the same story that’s different than Louis saying I shot Melanie and giving Ordell a bag with 40K.

The cops aren’t going to just take anyone’s word. I don’t think Ray really believes Jackie but he can’t prove anything. If someone is contradicting her story they will look into it further. The cops thinks she’s bringing 50k because that’s what Jackie told them, but Ordell/Louis/Melanie all know it’s supposed to be 500K and would say so, if they were arrested and there’s the bag with the books, how would she explain that? And if the cops find out she brought all 500 and only told them 50 she’d really be fricked. It all falls apart if Louis doesn’t shoot Melanie

quote:

But they were part of the plan from the start

Louis and Melanie were not always part of the plan, it was supposed to be Simone, they switched to Melanie at the last minute because Simone bolted with the 10K from the practice run.

Jackie Brown

In the spirit of over analyzing movies. Does Jackie’s plan only work because Louis shoots Melanie? If Melanie is alive she can contradict Jackie’s story about Melanie bursting into the dressing room plus her and Louis would have the same story about not looking in the bag. I assume her giving Melanie the 10K was to set Melanie up, but that seems risky. Seems like her plan falls apart with Melanie and Louis around :dunno:

was as meaningful as an NFL preseason game.

More like a week 18 NFL game

quote:

more than that since it’s a game that actually counts. It’s about on par with the SEC title Game in the 12 team era.

The SECCG in the 12 team era often determined who played for the BCS Title. Losing to LSU in 2001 cost Tennessee a title shot and sent them to a meaningless Citrus Bowl. The US still moves on as a Group winner and can still advance to the round of 16 at least

I always recommend reading them in release order which would be
Hunt For Red October
Patriot Games

The Cardinal of the Kremlin is not only my favorite Clancy book but one of my favorite Cold War/spy novels period.

Only 5.9M viewers for Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final between Carolina and Vegas. For comparison:

Here is a classic case of someone that doesn’t understand ratings or how the world works

This is like saying LSU baseball won draws 11,000 for a game at the Box. The FB team draws 100K

5.9M maybe be terrible or great numbers for hockey, it’s all relative

OU is a different team compared to wen we played them.

We beat them in Hoover a week before the regionals:lol:

They lost their last 4 SEC series. People need to remember that when they are melting down over a mid week loss or 2 bad SEC weekends in a row. It’s not football where 1 loss could kill you. It’s not over until it’s over.

Not top 5 or top 25 of the 90s but definitely a classic rewatchable

that's because speilberg realized that the shark looked so fake

No it’s because they had mechanical problems with it and it didn’t work well. That accident actually builds the tension more and makes it a better movie. People say it looks “fake” because they know it is. It may not be as good as the Dinos in Jurassic Park but Jaws is a superior film.

quote:

i think speilberg is a better director at 80 than he was at 29 and i think he would probably agree with me.

Then you’re both wrong
Disclosure Day is getting trashed in pretty much every review I’ve seen. Whata his last great movie? Lincoln, Munich? His stretch from Duel thru SVP is vastly superior to the years since, which is roughly the same amount of years i don’t think that ls really debatable
quote:

for me jaws has not aged well pre cgi shark looks dated,

I really weep for the future I read stuff like this. You really didn’t get the movie frankly. Part of what makes it great is we don’t see the shark until the 3rd act and the famous though misquoted “you’re gonna need a bigger boat” scene. It’s so much more impactful than some cgi shark ripping people apart like Deep Blue Sea.
The 3 main characters: Brody, Hopper and Quint make Jaws the physical shark is not that important.
The top 5 should be, in any order you prefer but chronologically
Jaws
Raiders
ET
Schindler’s List
Saving Pvt Ryan
With Jurassic Park next
UGA because I like having 2 more CWS titles than Texas

But she never really knew she was working with the Russians

Not a valid defense.

quote:

But for the majority of her time with Philip, she thought he was a USA official that kept tabs on the FBI.

And never once questioned it or tried to independently verify he was telling the truth, even when he asked her to bug the office of her boss who is the head of
FBI COUNTERINTELLIGENCE. And don’t give me he told her not to tell anyone, bugging John Boys office should have been a major red flag. If she “didn’t know” she didn’t want to know or is too fricking stupid to live.

I didn’t hate Elizabeth, she’s just the enemy, i didn’t root for her, I was rooting for Stan and FBI, (a lifetime of rooting for the Saints and pre 2000s LSU prepared me to root for the side that never wins )
But Martha? I hated that selfish traitorous b*tch. Recall who is in Dante’s deepest pit of Hell.

quote:

Oh man, I forget they sent her to Russia. Man they screwed her over big time.

Screwed her over? She should spent the rest of her miserable life in federal prison.

I totally forgot about Martha. She really got screwed. I hope she was at least able to adopt the little girl.

frick that treasonous b*tch  I hope she was miserable and lonely

quote:

Not sure how Paige will make out. Does she stay on the run. Does she turn herself in?

Always wondered that myself. It was 1987 so a lot easier to live under an assumed identity would she contact the KGB and continue working for them? She would probably have to move to another part of the country
Wouldn’t “You’re so Vain” by Carly Simon be ironic? She sings “you’re so vain, you probably think songs about you..”

The song is in fact about him

Yes it does invalidate the criticism

The Saints were bad and trending down from 2021-25, sorry great drafts in 2006 and 2017 do not invalidate that. The compounded a tough cap situation with idiotic signings like Carr.

quote:

You have like 10+ franchises that have done nothing for 10+ years with even better draft picks. If we were behind NYJ, LVR, ARI, MIA, CLE, TEN then sure. If we were the worst/ least promising team in our division then sure.

The goal is to win not say at least we were better than the Jets Raiders and Browns

quote:

I don't care if we made a few stupid decisions, teams do that every year.

This is classic strawmaning. No one bats 1.000 at anything. It’s not just a bad decision here or there. 21-25 was a waste due to bad decisions compounded on other bad decisions. It was a waste. If they found the right coach QB and are moving in the right direction that’s obvious what we all want but no amount of lip stick will cover the pig that we’ve seen for 4-5 years while Ra-rahs were making excuses
