Sumrall is unproven and the results are uncertain. The hype seemed a little much for him. He hasn’t really won at a high level.

Or Urban Meyer, there’s no magic formula
What it proves is the super conference is fricking stupid, if you left the conferences alone the top 5 conference winners would be Indiana UGA Oregon 1 of TTU/A&M/OU and probably Tulane since thenACC is a shite show:lol:

the playoff should've stayed at 4,

It's the definition of DEI.

Your breakdown is the definition of creating your own narrative. DEI has only been around for about 10-15 years conferences getting auto bids to bowls has been around since at least the 60s. Every conference winner gets in the basketball and baseball tournaments. Every division winner in pro sports make the playoffs. Not sure where you live but in the states I’ve lived in every team that wins its district makes the playoffs in their classification. Is that DEI?

Going back to the BCS the top 6 conferences were all guaranteed aNCS bowl. It changed to 5 after the Big East stopped being a FB conference. The morons never bothered to change it even after the SEC and B1G gutted the BigXII and destroyed the PAC 12 and ACC was watered down adding too many teams.

Since the CFB playoff is run by all 10 FBS conferences if you don’t want some of them involved then the Big boys will need to split off

Boise State was left out of the BCS entirely in 2010

Looking at the 2010 BCS rankings TCU who was in the MWC at the time did win the Rose and fits your 2017 UCF standard. Boise at 9 still makes it, actually I think the top 12 would all be in, top 5 conference winners Auburn, Oregon, TCU, Wisconsin get byes and Oklahoma is the 5th was #7.

The problem is as usual with college football is they are short sighted. The whole top 5 conference champs i’d argue really goes back to even before the BCS. The big conferences at the time all had deals for their champ to go to one of the Big NYD Bowls. B1G/Pac10 to Rose SEC to Sugar Big8 Orange and SWC Cotton. With the BCS the conference winners were all guaranteed a BCS Bowl if not in the CCG. Now I believe they don’t want to give up the stupid CCG so they keep auto bids for conference winners even though it really doesn’t make sense in an era with 2 major and 2 semi major conferences with 16-18 teams and no divisions. This year it bit them on the arse I personally find it hilarious. But a stipulation that the top conference winners have to be ranked in the top 15 would be better

Boise State was left out of the BCS entirely in 2010 by losing in overtime to a Colin Kaepernick led Nevada team. They got no mulligan

That’s probably because there wasn’t a 12 team playoff in 2010 :dunno:

These DEI games have to stop

Not nearly as bad as retards need to stop calling everything they don’t like DEI.

many CFB fans aren’t alumni of the programs they cheer for

Sure but there are also alums that aren’t sports fans :dunno:
quote:

because it’s a great product while CFB mostly sucks

Both are great this type of either or is just stupid. Pro sports are in big cities and appeal to a wider audience. Only 1/3 of the population goes to college to begin with and most of them are not at schools in the SEC or B1G or have major football programs

I said a while ago the NFL is going to gain ground on college since college is basically just a shittier version of the NFL now.

Gain ground? :rotflmao: Ratings wise the NFL has blown every thing away for a long long time
quote:

he wanted Wilson

You think Wilson left LSU for Ole Miss by choice?

quote:

otherwise why keep him on and have him coach the bowl game?

That’s not necessarily Kiffin’s decision you dolt someone has to coach that game and it wouldn’t be Kiffin
quote:

He WASN'T showing Frank Wilson or Blake Baker (when he interviewed for Tulane) the door.

Baker no but it’s been pretty clear from early on that he wasn’t interested in keeping Frank as a position coach. So if Frank wanted to remain as an on field coach he needed to look elsewhere, it’s not that hard to understand.

quote:

probably a third of the people who downvoted me also probably said he should have retained Wilson

What some random posters on a message board think doesn’t matter
There’s also people that thought Frank should go and still others like myself that were kind of ambivalent about it, the RB play hasn’t been exactly been blowing up my skirt the last 4 years and I’m not worried about Kiffin recruiting so if he wanted to keep Frank or Frank was willing to take an off the field job great, if not, no biggie.

quote:

if (BIG IF) Cortez Hankton goes to Ohio State, you're telling me that a WR coach is good enough to coach at OSU but not at LSU?

First of all this is a classic strawman, but more importantly don’t think he’s literally the only good WR coach? Do you think WR play at LSU was exceptional the last 2 years? Do you think Kiffin has not had good WR coaches? Some people get overly attached to the coaches they know. Again a new coach gets to name his staff.

quote:

So my original question still stands. Btw

No i your question is misleading and misses the point
I think the 4 team playoff was ideal. You avoid things like 2004 Auburn plus all the NCS controversies are avoided,

BSC nostalgia is strange, like people longing to return to 50s houses 1200 sq ft 3 bedroom 1 hall bath
quote:

Because some people are actually thinking through the question and not having a knee-jerk reaction

I’m never really sure when seeing a post like this if you are just a troll or if you’re really this stupid

on the likelihood it’s the later the simple explanation is you are asking the wrong question. The Heach Coach hires the staff and when a head coach is fired, technically the entire staff is fired. Now when you fire a coach in mid season like this, the school needs someone to stay and finish the season but once it’s over, whether they stay or not is up to the new coach. So asking if the new coach is so good why are the old coaches leaving does not make any sense. It’s his choice not theirs. Now some he asks to stay may still leave but that’s for a variety of reasons, some get promotions or may join the old coaches etc….

quote:

Did no one wonder if Frank loves LSU so much and he now has a legit shot at winning with Kiffin at the helm, why would he not stay?

Because he was not offered a job on the coaching staff apparently. He can still love LSU and not want to stay on and take a demotion to analyst or something. Kiffin, unlike Kelly has experience recruiting in this part of the country and state, I’m not worried about him not retaining a guy who’s sole value may actually be some what obsolete anyway. As a RB coach without recruiting considerations he’s just not very good
quote:

Is it weird to feel an odd sense of pride about this?

The same pride you should feel getting a participation trophy at the Special Olympics:lol:
quote:

He's gonna be laser focused, not on the game itself, but who he can bring to Oxford.

This tells us a lot more about you than anything else. Namely that you can’t multitask or even do more than one thing at time

College coaches work on game planning and recruiting every single week during the season plus managing practice making sure kids are going to class etc so the idea that his mind would be more on “recruiting current LSU players vs the game is just silly.

Worse is this conspiracy some of you tards have concocted that he would sabotage LSU out of bitterness. If nothing else that would be disastrous for his own career assuming his ambition is to move up from Ole Miss RB Coach

Any players LSU loses is most likely players that wouldn’t get much pt under the new coaches. Trust throat coaches will get better players and not worry about a stupid meatless bowl game
