That film would never....EVER..be shown today

They showed in TCM a couple of years ago as part of a series about political movies. All the movies had a prominent person intro and talk about the film with Ben Mankiewicz before and after (I think after). I forget who it was that introduced it, a black writer or journalist maybe.

lol if Ryan Day went 3-9 at Ohio State in Year 5, he’d be fired.

Another retard that doesn’t understand baseball is not football

He’s Eli Manning

Eli is one of only 13 QBs in 60 years to win 2+ Super Bowls is that supposed
To be an insult

You’re not gonna see a run like Skip in the 90s again.

I guess the way I'm looking at it as being a small margin is.

The difference between hitting .300 and .250 is .05 do you think that’s a small margin? Because i think most people would view that as a significant difference. In 250 AB that’s the difference between 75 and 62.5 so say 63 hits, is 12-13 hits over the course of 60 or so games a lot? Doesn’t sound like it but a .300 BA vs .250 is a pretty big difference.

A 2.19 run difference per game.

That’s a pretty significant difference
I will for the life of me never understand why some fans insist on denigrating our own coaches that have won titles.

No coach wins without talent but coaching and development play a role in turning talented players into champions
This season has proved Mainieri was right when he said LSU fans expect the coach to start perfect and improve from there.

Atlanta and Tampa always give us problems regardless of how they do against everyone

“Easy” schedule in the NFC does not mean games you win “easily” like LSU vs McNesse or some Sun Belt team. It’s the overall quality of your opponents and every one in the NFCS had a losing record that’s 6 games right there plus vs 1 division from the NFC and one AFC The biggest benefit is the remaining 3 games vs teams that also finished last in 2 other NFC divisions and 1 AFC, for the Saints that the Giants, Cardinals and Raiders instead of the Commanders 49ers and Chiefs. There can always be a surprise but I’d rather play the Giants, even if they do take a jump up, than the Chiefs and 49ers

Except Baltimore, Cincy, Chicago, and Detroit

Chicago won their division and were the 2 seed, how is that “down year”?

ETA the last time the Bears had a winning season was 2018 and the last they made the playoffs was 2020, so definitionally it was the opposite of a “down year”
This is why some of us said losing to the Falcons in week 18 last year was a good thing :dunno:

Payton was here for the 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 drafts. Awful.

Going off the OP the 2019 draft was #2 and 2020 #10, can’t have it both ways.
No one will hit every single draft but 2006 and 2017 are all time drafts for the franchise (81 and 86 are the others) and Payton was a big part of those. The 21-24 drafts were terrible and he left after 21. The point the rah rah fans don’t get is the franchise was in bad shape and trending down, the evidence is clear in not just these draft rankings but the on field outcome. Hopefully they turned the corner with 25-26 but pointing to an arbitrary 20 period does not invalidate the criticism of the last 4-5 years
quote:

We do. However this also indicates that we weren’t as bad in the other years as many believe.

You might want to check the 2021-2024 stretch (25,28,30, 20) again. Also note that shitty drafts coincides with Payton leaving. 2025 certainly looks promising especially if Shough continues to develop. But anyone that thinks criticism over that last few years wasn’t warranted is just a blind homer making excuses
quote:

2021: #26 draft class - 52% below expected (none)
2022: #28 draft class - 49% below expected (Chris Olave #14)
2023: #30 draft class - 86% below expected (none)
2024: #20 draft class - (none)

quote:

this is going to trigger a lot of folks around here

So we are suppose to be excited about this stretch, because of great drafts in the past? 2006 is one of the best drafts in franchise history, by 2021 those guys we’re retired.

Eyanson , Kade, Skenes covered up a lot of Jays shortcomings

Yes ever other coach that’s won has won with scrubs. I will never understand why a segment of LSU fans constantly belittle our own coaches and accomplishments

In any other year that would have won best picture, of course in any other year Peter O Toole would have won best actor for Lawrence of Arabia

Right, that's why I made my living being a coach and am retired at 58.

I’m sure little league misses you
You are either a troll or a moron then, a real coach would not make such sweeping ridiculous statement or think the difference between the #2 pick and the #4 pick is some kind of absolute difference.

I’ve never seen a fan base so eager to belittle its own championship winning coaches and title season like LSU fans.
quote:

With Skeenes, Crews, and Tank, You shouldn't need luck.

 what an utterly ridiculous statement, you don’t know how baseball or sports or even life work not to mention it is incredibly disrespectful to ignore extremely talented players on other teams.
Maineri was a national seed 6 years in a row but that wasn’t good enough
quote:

and If …IF …his team had lost to Arkansas his seat would be scorching hot!

But they didn’t so what’s the point? Every team, coach, player that’s won had close calls along the way, that tends to happen when you are playing other really good teams

quote:

I’m sorry your emotions can’t handle the truth

Sounds like you are upset he won last year :dunno: btw pointing out a hypothetical is not the “truth”

quote:

I don’t think Simpson is good….but I’m not going to pretend I have superior qb eval skills over McCvay,

I’m not even questioning Simpson’s talent, though I do think he should have stayed in college and gotten another year of starting I just think a team with a legit SB window should go all in, take a developmental QB later.
