Aggies celebrating it are clueless. He got that number for the same reason he had 3 picks. 56 freaking passes!!!!! in a game they were either ahead or close. That is insane.

For perspective USCe’s QB who had a bad game against LSU had 177 with 2 TDs and 2 picks with 34 passes. At that pace with 56 passes he goes 291 3 TDs 3 Ints. "Better" numbers.

By continuing to throw the ball as if you were behind by 50 allowed LSU to pick the ball and win the game.

Kicking game was not the reason, if every kick is made you still don't win. (LSU missed also)

I like Sumlin, but it is a legitimate question if this philosophy will work. Evidence so far says no.

4.82 yards per attempt....which is not good.

I'm confused here. Is it the 270 yards passing or the number of attempts that caused A&M to lose?

I, and most of my brethren would disagree. We lost because of very inopportune turnovers and shitty kicking. We lost nevertheless. It's over. On to Auburn.

Our Oline is good, that's about it. Hard to say if it will work once other skill position talent catches up via recruiting.

The scheme is good for blowing out bad opponents, keeping up with good ones, and occasionally beating great ones. It's also prone to lose some games that just shouldn't be lost due to the offense having a "bad day".

Sounds like you're scared about the future. I would be too if I were you.

Despite the number of attempts it took to get there, Manziel had more yards of offense than LSU had allowed to anyone all season long. It's a little silly to act like he got dominated. Regardless, at the end of the day, we missed kicked, fumbled the ball, had easy catches for long gains bounce off of our shoulder pads and into the air for an interception, etc. We lost. They won. The redshirt freshmen looked pretty good, but not good enough. LSU won the game. That's the bottom line.

if i threw the ball 600 times i could probably rack up some decent yards too.

Thanks for clearing this up. Silly me, I was thinking it was the 5 turnovers leading to 21 points for LSU, the 7 points our kicker couldn't convert, and the stupid penalty that called back a TD (and would have put him above 300 yards btw).

Your team won and deserved to win, enjoy it!

I am an older poster on this board and have seen over 50 years of bama and SEC football.

That said, having familarity with A&M, I warn all other SEC fans and schools, do not take them lightly.

Kevin Sumlin is the next Great coach in the SEC. Don't doubt me.

With A&M now the only SEC team in Texas, he will recruit depth and SEC size on defense.

Sumlin may be forced to run a more pro style offense. Maybe not. With a great defense, how scary would JFF be?

Disrespect A&M at your own teams peril

They will become an SEC power!

You'll blow out bad teams and lose to good teams. It's how that philosophy has panned out so far for pretty much everyone. The reason you see them being so successful is because a lot of teams with this strategy don't ever match up against teams with high level nfl defensive draft picks on a regular basis. Much less see something like the defenses Alabama, LSU, Florida, and USC have put together. All of those defenses have multiple first and second round draft picks on their rosters.

R2d2, Off topic?? Your premise is Sumlin style offense won't work in SEC.

I agree until he recruits SEC top caliber defense as well as SEC caliber offense. Now, many will say you can't do both.

My point is that he has the entire state of Texas and will have the pick of the liter in the coming years

So, 270 yards passing is not why he lost the game, defense was.

3 years from now, JFF will have 350 yards passing and A&M will have 200 yards rushing.

In this scenario, Saturdays game would be A&M 42 LSU 14

I keep telling people the spread or read option won't work in the SEC unless...

You have Tebow or Newton. Those guys can take the abuse and dish some out and in Newton's case just run over you or away from you. Tebow didn't have the speed, but he could run over you.

Johnny Football will get killed trying to do this. He can run away from people, but can't run over them. Also, I don't think A&M has much of a running game outside of him, so if you take him out, they are done. Also, not sure he is that great of a passer. What I mean by that is a pocket passer. I know he can move out of the pocket and find a receiver streaking and get it to him.

i have said this since the florida game. i've been around football a hell of a long time and run and shoot, spread, whatever, teams don't win championships. they don't know how to keep a lead and they don't know how to manage the clock. sumlin, if he concentrates on his defense, will be successful. right now he's a big 12 coach not an sec coach. the man has a great OL and RB's and he's damn wasting them so johny fricking football can run around and look cute. SEC AIN'T BIG 12.
