Obviously, they pull for their own team when they play each other, but I heard from an Auburn fan that any time they're not playing Bama, they pull for Bama to win (as long as the outcome doesn't affect Auburn) and vice versa. This person told me that 90% of the fans on both sides are this way, but there is that 10% which hates the other team regardless. Is this true? If so, it seems that we have mostly the 10% variety as posters on this board...

Just curious.

I don't pull for Bama most of the time...I hoped UF would beat them last year...but since they made it to the NCG I pulled for them simply because that meant more money to the conference...which helps Auburn.

No, that is not true. Some do but certainly not 90%.

Unless we are playing Bama or their win doesn't hurt us, I pull for them. Though I also have a lot of friends that go to Bama so I guess that helps in my decision making.

The only school I root against is Texas... I just don't like them.

If it doesn't involve Auburn (i.e. rankings, tie-breakers, head-to-head, etc) I don't really care. If they win, then it's good for the SEC and helps with our SOS. If they lose, then frick Bama, War Eagle

Definetly pull for Auburn.. I dont fear Auburn being good. It only makes Bama better.. Same for Auburn, when Bama is good, it makes Auburn try harder. The state of Alabama is lucky to have two great programs. Especially for a small state.

i hear ALL the sickening time on the radio people say "well, i pull for bama when they play awbarn... but i pull for awbarn when they ain't playin bama" bs rhetoric all the time.

i don't know if it's just the call screeners trying to promote peacefulness... but i honestly think more than half of us are 100% against the other team's success. alabamians are too slow moving and peaceful and don't have time for the amount of hate i feel for the opposition.

An Auburn loss makes me about 3/4ths as happy as an Alabama win....

I dont know about other Auburn fans, because I don't know every Auburn fan, but I will never, ever, EVER pull for alabama. Ever.

I think that's why we are called Rivals....

I pull for AU every game except the Iron Bowl. I don't always act like that on here because a lot of the AU fans piss me off.

I cannot pull for bama, it is against my very being.

I don't think any true Auburn or bama fan can really cheer for the other. I think maybe there are some platitudes exchanged between the fan bases, wishing each other well in upcoming games against ______(fill in the blank). But the truth is most true fans hope a raging case of herpes against the other team/fan base and their future filled with failure and pain.

Good luck bama against Mich State! (meaning herp prayers sent)

No self-respecting Alabama "fan" could ever root for Auburn. That's absurd. I cheer almost as hard against Auburn as I do for Alabama. Obviously I don't have the emotional attachment (like when Alabama loses and it takes a couple of days to regroup ) and if Auburn wins it in no way effects the rest of my day, but it's hillarious to see them lose IMO. I don't see how any Alabama fan can watch an Auburn game, see all that orange, all that obnoxiousness, all that 'family,' and have to listen to that fight song and actually cheer for them to win. I'd seriously question somebody doing that who calls themselves an Alabama fan.

Heck no! The bandwagon fans may do this type of thing. Most true Alabama fans that I KNOW do not care for Auburn and will not pull for them unless it benefits Alabama!

You don't understand. Most Aub/Bammers would rather get raped in prison overnight then pull for Bama/Aubie.

I'm the only person smart enough in my family to attend LSU (and make a helluva alot mo money than any 2 of them)

The type of fan that obsessively cruises the college football message boards doesn't feel this way. But, for the majority of "fans" who are a lot more casual about it, a lot of them do pull for the other side to do well. I used to pull for Auburn most of the time if it didn't affect Bama. My dad was a big auburn fan while I was growing up, so we showed mutual respect to one another that way. I also almost went to auburn to study wildlife biology, but I backed out.

So, yeah, some fans do. After all the garbage I've had to listen to from AU fans this year though I hope their football complex burns to the ground.
