Is there a QB competition this offseason for your team? Do you have a gut feeling who the winner of the competition will be?

It's obviously Mateer, but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Newbauer get some PT. Guy is huge and fast, has a cannon and can place the ball well.

Hopefully with a new QB coach and OC he can do some damage and get back to how he played his RS freshman year. Last year was really bad for him, but I believe maybe that was Shula

Why would LSU fans be dismayed about facing a guy who only put up 24 points, and that's with Kiffin and CWJ?

There is at Alabama, but only the coaches know how much of a true competition it is.
Austin Mack and Keelon Russell are competing.
Austin Mack is more familiar with the system. He was barely used last year (with our tendency to play almost entirely close games), so the only good opponent he had any real experience with was against Indiana. He was... well, as good as could be hoped for considering what he was walking into. He was a 4* in high school and transferred to Alabama from Washington.
Keelon Russell has the higher ceiling and talent. He was a 5* in high school, the #2 overall QB recruit and #1 recruit out of TX in 2025. He's a massive talent, and could have several really good weapons around him as well.
So definitely a battle going into spring practice.

Notice how you said they had to force the NCAA because even you know he had no real reason to get another year of eligibility?
Really though I’m glad he’s playing because you guys will have absolutely zero excuses next year when you go 8-4 and are melting in every direction.

If it ìsnt Philo for us then we arent going to have a good SEC QB I think.
