I don't care how much money it takes.

Was coming here to post this. Give the man whatever he wants. Money, facilities, etc. He’s the best basketball coach in our history and the best coach on campus.

He's already getting the facility upgrades. Time to unload the brink trucks to his house on Lake Tuscaloosa.

Has to happen. Bama is a Sweet 16 or better team every year under Oats. I remember when making the tournament was a big deal.

Deer Antler Spray. Unlimited supply.

He gets the most out of his teams every year basically. Best to ever do it here

His teams do well in the NCAA tournament. I wonder if their style of play confuses teams that don't see that style as much? TT was a 1 1/2 point favorite. If they beat Michigan or even hang close ditto for an excellent show. How can Florida lose to Iowa?

Once Oats get that center it's over.

Should be an easy decision for Byrne to make. Oats is the only great (so far at least) hire he has made and coaches a revenue sport. Give him whatever he wants and don't worry about basketball for the next 20 years or until he leaves for the NBA.

I swear it seems like he sandbags a little during the regular season. I mean, the team we saw this weekend is not the team we saw all year. Defense is night and day better. Great switch-offs, great play down low. Physical without fouling. Rebounding? My goodness, we looked like Florida on the O boards. Defensively, the two opponents were one-and-done over and over. In the final four year, our regular season defense was very suspect. But in the tournament, they were different. I am not saying we are going to beat Michigan, but I no longer feel like we are going to just get dominated by their bigs. We are locked in. Let's see how far it takes us.

If the football coach would even have a thought of needing something, it'd get done.
The same should apply to Oats.

No, he just plays the hardest schedule every season so we’re ready for the tournament. It’s hard to get up for every game. Toughest non con plus SEC you are going to be tested
That’s why non casuals laugh at people who go chicken little every time we hit mild adversity

Im guilty of it. I swear it feels like we played half the entire field in the tournament.
OOC we played Arizona, Zaga, St. Johns, Yale, Illinois, South Florida, Clemson, Purdue, Kennesaw St. and then the SEC teams.

Oats is rumored to be high on UNC’s list if they run Hubert Davis. Pope at UK is also on the hot seat. He probably gets another year because of UK replacing an AD as well, but they’ve already approached Nate once, I’m sure they will do it again. Byrne needs to step up and get the man an arena we can all be proud of. Nate is making good money and a bump wouldn’t hurt but the key is replacing that shithole Coleman Hangar. Get it done, NOW!

Oats doesn't care about a new arena. He'd tell them to spend it on NIL instead.

He's said numerous times that they don't give a shite about the arena. The facilities and areas that the players use are to knotch. What we need is NIL money.
Supposedly this season, we are, AT BEST, the #11 in NIL spent, maybe even lower than that. And we managed to finished 2nd in the SEC and are back in the sweet 16. What if we had the money to keep MoDi or Stevenson? Our front court would be much stronger.
Guards and wings are lining up to play for us. We will get quality players, most that will be here for at least 2 years. But being able to pay top dollar is keeping us from landing the truly elite recruits, the The Caleb Holt type recruits. You don't have to have that guys, but they help. Especially if you have senior leadership, and aren't running your entire offense through your freshmen.
And big men want to get to the NBA too. So we need to be able to recruit them, instead of seeing all of our top targets go elsewhere. If our NIL is close, then you're gonna start see us winning those battles.
So yeah, let's give him what he wants. Because he's not been shy about telling us what he needs.

I’m sure he is. But Oats turned down Kentucky 2 years ago. Not sure why Carolina would be different. I think Kentucky is a better job and you don’t have any in state rivals, nevermind one that gets every kid they want.
