As tampering persists, Luke Ferrelli and Ole Miss is a college football problem

Clemson’s Luke Ferrelli problem is really a college football problem. Clemson fans were excited when the Tigers signed former Cal linebacker Luke Ferrelli out of the transfer portal. The ACC defensive freshman of the year put up big numbers at Cal and was expected to slide in beside Sammy Brown as a playmaker.
Ferrelli was on campus and, as we were told, was working out in the weight room on Friday and getting to know his teammates. I spoke with Ferrelli after the signing and he was excited to get back to Clemson and start classes.
Then Ole Miss began to tamper, making an initial offer to Ferrelli and then adding to it when it appeared the first offer wasn’t enough. Clemson was made aware of what was going on and the hope was that the Tigers would keep Ferrelli, but it’s now obvious that he is headed to Ole Miss. What are Clemson’s options?
As I was told this morning by two sources close to the situation, this is more than a Clemson problem. This is a college football problem, especially when coaches can openly tamper with a player. And Clemson won’t let this one go. I’ve been told the administration is looking at all options, and I don’t expect a resolution in the next few days. Maybe a week or two. But as I was told this morning by one source, Clemson is not the school you want to mess with when it comes to this.
Why? Because other coaches are reticent to call out other coaches, because everyone keeps receipts – Pete Golding at Ole Miss might be hesitant to call out Lane Kiffin because Kiffin knows where the bodies are buried. And vice versa. But as one person texted me this morning, “Nobody has receipts on our guy.”
My guess is that “our guy” will not hesitate to call out what he has seen, especially if he was shown evidence of tampering. In other words, Clemson won’t look the other way on this and it could get messy. It should get messy. Because, as I said above, this is more than a Clemson problem; it’s a college football problem. I had one coach tell me this morning, “This is completely unhealthy and broken and unsustainable. If this type of blatant tampering is allowed, then we have no college football.”
As our Brandon Rink said this morning, now that the Miami’s and the Ole Miss’s of the world have gotten a taste of the College Football Playoff apple, they want more. And they will do whatever it takes to get that next bite.

Not bashing the move by the Rebs, the irony of their bitching is just hilarious

Everyone is tampering these days. Anyone getting upset that tampering is happening needs to be upset at the NCAA for being little do-nothing bitches that aren’t making any rule changes to reign in the madness of the transfer portal.

This situation is much worse than anything kiffin is pulling with the ole miss roster and now “everyone is tampering”.

Hypocrisy at its finest!

I'm sure we are going to get just as much outrage to this as there was for Demond Williams. No way the board wouldn't treat it the same.

I hope the portal and tampering burns the son of a bitch to the ground and we rebuild with some rules and ethics. Oh, and the NCAA can go hover over the Harvards and Marquettes of the world.

I missed the part in which the author described exactly how Ole Piss broke the rules. Anyone have a line on that?

Maybe go to Sunday School or church this morning brother. If you’re not religious go check out a State Park or anywhere outdoors for a hike. Hell cook a huge breakfast and then take what you and your family don’t eat and give it to some needy folks on a street corner. This is too much Ole Miss football on the brain for 8am on a Sunday in the SEC offseason. Take care of yourself.

It’s probably going to end up being Lane Kiffin’s fault because
Purple Man Bad.
Media hates him like TRUMP.

This couldn't be more wrong. The NCAA has rules and would love nothing more to enforce them, but every time they do some young punk hires an attorney to sue and then some panty waist judge that shouldn't be anywhere near college football overturns the decision. The NCAA is basically without any authority and it isn't their fault at all.

After a player has entered the portal, as Ferrilli did, they are fair game to contact. By definition that’s not tampering.
If a player has not entered the portal, it is tampering to contact them, make offers, or attempt to induce them into the portal.
I realize it’s hard for some people to understand these distinctions.

Everyone is but only one school is being hypocritical cúnts about it, crying and accusing others about it while blatantly doing it.

Not possible. Not by ole miss. They are elite and would never stoop to such lows.

He was not in the portal. He has to be put back in the portal per Clemson sites

Yep. Don't be bashing the NCAA. Everytime they try to enforce the rules some grown arse man who still wants to play ball with college kids instead of getting the hell out of college and starting adult life sues them and wins. Any irony there Reb fans?

Your entire media core is a bunch of butthurt soft little pansies

I’m not so sure that’s correct. Once a player is in the portal, that status changes only after the player formally requests it in writing. Players often don’t do so. I haven’t seen any reports that the player actually filed the request to withdraw.
