SEC loads of talent but the teams' dominance is waaaaay overstated.

I said in September Texas Tech was a top 5 team, and so many scoffed.

Still think they play Ga for NC.

I also said Big twelve would probably go 8-8 or 9-7 against B1G and still believe that.

The problem with the SEC right now is coaching - not talent.

The SEC was always overlooked by the media back in the day, so everyone's comeuppance happened because of it. We get plenty of exposure now, so it isn't as big of a deal as it used to be, but it is fun to rub folks nose in it from time to time. You knew everyone would jump on us the next chance they could, which is now.

We are still the best conference, but it with NIL and the portal, it is going to even things out a good bit.

I’m pretty sure they have two and the two teams that won them are now in the SEC. No current Big 12 team has on a title since 1984 (and that one’s a bit dodgy).

ETA: sorry forgot about Colorado 1990. Another dodgy one. But I can’t forget my boy Les on that staff!

Or hear me out... Tech is ranked so high because they don't play anyone. I have them beating Oregon (who i think is very overrated), but I don't think they're a top 5 team. They have what could be the best front 7 oin college football, but their offense is lackluster (looks decent in a league known not to play defense). They lost to ASU this year in a game that really could have been a blowout.

Why do you think the Big 12 is good?? I think tech is good but untested, Utah schools slightly above average, and the rest pretty Duke or Boston College.

It's so bad that some schools are throwing bank at coaches with 13-24 records against ranked teams.

Thank you. I see the error of my ways and I will now give the Big 12 the credit it deserves

My, obviously unasked for, opinion is this...

The SEC is still trying to adjust to the NIL world. We were perfectly adapted to the pre-NIL era. Even some of the turd teams knew how to work the game.

Here is the problem. The biological history of the world has taught us a very powerful lesson. The better you are adapted to a particular ecosystem, the worse you are going to do when that ecosystem has a dramatic change. There is a reason that 99.9% of species have gone extinct.

We have not really reacted to the primary change of NIL in that, suddenly, everyone is on the market. And, unlike the NFL, it is a completely unregulated market. We unleashed pure, unfiltered, capitalism on college football. You can become a powerhouse over night... or lose it all over night.

James Madison University had a magical, just a magical, year this season and while they lost they weren't embarrassed by Oregon in the CFP. And... they're gone. Even though they have a very nice, for their level, NIL program they've already lost most of their starters with more likely to follow.

The same thing happened to Army last year.

The SEC, as a whole, isn't ready for that. It used to be you bought a player once, and they stayed bought. Now you've got to buy them every single year.

We have a lot of very talented brotha's who enjoy the NIL bling and flashing $$, while these corn-fed, homegrown white boys are strong as plow mules.

Is your argument that the Big 12 is good, or just Texas Tech?

Because your last sentence is that the Big 12 would break even against the B1G, but outside of three teams, the B1G has also been pretty damned bad. The drop off after Oregon is STEEP.
