It was a horrible sign when we were still playing musical chairs on the OL half way into the season

Valid points. I’ve 8 in the box and the play is a passing play but the receivers are running 40 yards downfield, WAAAAY too long for that play to develop.

Makes a ton of sense frankly.

That’s pretty eye opening from a guy who would understand. Good post.

Grubb needs to go. I've watched enough of our offense to see we have several issues on offense and most of them all go back to Grubb. Problem here is Deboer obviously backs what Grubb does and has no plans to fire him. Grubb will ultimately be Deboer's downfall at Bama.

Reminds me of that year LSU had Matt Canada calling plays. Just a bunch of wasted, useless window dressing motion. Starting to think Grubb is just going through the motions and doesn't want to be here. Been dealing with shite like that since Bill O'Brien came on board.

If Grubb truly doesn't want to be here, then he needs to get his offense to remove their thumbs from their asses and show some real firepower to get some job offers coming in.

I just think Grubb doesn't know what he's doing. This is the same offense he had at Washington. He's made the offense too big a mess for Ty to figure out. If Deboer had a real OC his mind would be blown.

Rodger knows football and can explain it better in layman terms than anyone else. I really enjoyed his radio show in Montgomery years ago.

Yeah. I'm starting to come around to belief that this is a scheme problem.
Im NOT sure if it is solely a Grubb problem. DeBoer likes this system. There is going to have to be a change to a more physical, less nuance based offensive system.

I've been skeptical of his use of motion on run plays for a while. We intentionally bring more defenders into the box before calling a run multiple times a game. Oats needs to come in and teach them remedial math.

The same things work that worked back then. Maybe instead of hiring these 20 something year old analysts...you hire these old timers who have walked that walk and have seen a lot of football.

Saban still getting paid $500K from BAMA? You'd think Saban would give him a call.

That scheme worked well before. Difference is the QB play.
Even on the plays with 8 to 9 near the box any moron would tell you a 3 step drop and fade to your fastest WR would feed families... instead our guy wants to hold and wait for the pre-determined route he wants to throw.
There has to be accountability here.
Which is the main issue. It's incredible in every NFL or high level CFB game the QBs don't havr 5 seconds for every pass but we expect to have that ?

Yeah I defend a lot of things but the audible into a tight stack formation to run the ball is insane.
Hasn't worked outside of E IL all season and if I had to guess its our most commonly used formation in the second half of the year.
Would love someone to explain the logic on that to run the ball when the safeties arent deep.

Usually you do that when your line is trash. We can’t block 1v1, too slow for zone. So he brings in more hats which in turn brings in more defenders. It’s probably why we didn’t even try to run the ball vs UGA. We knew we couldn’t.
I like the scheme but it’s being called stupidity. Someone above mentioned it, you can’t have long developing routes when there’s 8 in the box and they are bringing pressure. There’s a lot working against deboer. Piss poor line play and the wrong pieces he needs. Horrible RB play, hopefully that is remedied next season. Also a head case for a qb who for all we know is checking into the very plays we are bitching about

Is there no one in the coaching room that notices this and says "Hey, we probably need to make an adjustment."
