I was listening to his SiriusXM show with Chris Childers on my way into work and Rick made this claim while discussing the current job openings across college football.

I just don't think Saban will do it. He just turned 74 last Friday.

He so much admitted during his later years that he had softened as opposed to when he was first at Bama. ( it showed badly in the penalty dept)

The things that made him successful, recruiting and discipline are harder to do now more than ever. Sure he can get a starting 22 with endless NIL money, but what happens when 2 or 3 starters get hurt and the fall off from first to second string is huge? Everybody wants playing time and to be the starter. Remember his statement when he retired? Only thing recruits want to know is how much will I play and how much are you paying me?

Because of his age it was getting harder and harder for him to find really good assistants to plug and play.

Finally, what would it say about his legacy. He earned the title of GOAT and lived up to it. With so many things that affect your style and ability to mandate excellence and bring about championships. Never mind the kids that won't stick around through adversity to become better. What about the studs you do have on the team that you have to re-recruit or negotiate to stay on the team. It still chaps my arse to this day to see Caleb Downs playing in a Luck Eye uniform.

Saban knows all of this in intricate detail waaaaaayyyy better than anyone else on planet earth. I just don't see him doing anything other than golfing like crazy and doing his ESPN gig.

lol.

Nick Saban is in his 70s and already has all the money in the world, what's he even gonna do with 100 million that he can't already do now?

You know what? If he does it, more power to him. His name will deservedly stay on stuff in Tuscaloosa and we will beat his arse on the field.

But there’s zero chance of it happening. In the first place Miss Terri would have a conniption and make his life miserable.

Childers made the same counterpoint during the segment.

He said Mrs. Terry enjoys their lifestyle now and he already has $100M (possible more) due to his earnings from coaching, car dealerships, AFLAC, GameDay, etc.

No.

Not $100M.

Estimates of his car dealership ownership stake range between $140M-$480M alone.

Add in the other stuff (hotel, endorsements and coaching earnings) and they were predicting in Forbes that he was on track to be the first billionaire coach in history before he's done.

If he comes back it would only be if something happened to the dealership network from a valuation standpoint or if he just cant stay retired and wants to basically go out on the sideline or something.

LMAO - I would love to see CNS take their $100 mil for 4 years. They would have to spend another $8 mil + per year with 4 year contracts to get staff there with him at his age. (same issue he had in Tuscaloosa). They would also have to pay out big NIL for players and the turnover would be fun to watch.

Granted, it may work out well after a 1 year (or so) adjustment. Then they would be right back in the same spot in 4 years trying to replace a 79 year old coach.

Saban left because of the NIL and what players were turning into. He's not going to coach again.

I would be very surprised because none of the factors that pushed him into retirement have changed.

All that shite they talked about Saban and now they're willing to suck his dick just to be their coach for four years

If you're willing to break the bank like that, go after Cignetti.

It would be hilarious if he accepted it only to go 8-5 every year.

I hope they do offer that to him and honestly I hope Saban would take it. I guarantee you the Bama fanbase will not act like little bitches that LSU has over the past 18 years.

First, look at the person who said it.

Second, ask yourself how he would know (it has all the markings of somebody’s brother has an uncle who knows somebody who heard some guy at Walmart say his cousin worked for the booster club).

Third, ask yourself why LSU would want a 74 year old head coach, even if it’s Saban who, by his own admission, lost the desire to coach in the current environment.

Even LSU isn’t that dumb and desperate.

I hope he does. They want to toss a quarter of a billion plus out the window, take it. On the opposite end of the argument is that if he doesn't take it the other candidates know they money is there and likely won't accept a lowball offer. Seems like a win-win to me.

Offering a 74 year old double the highest paid college coach in the world, and $5 million more than the highest paid sports coach in America? They think that's what's gonna get them another ring? Sounds like pure bullshite. But LSU can act so fricking crazy, it's hard to say it's unrealistic. They just might do something that stupid.

The corndogs do have a 31 page thread about Saban going to LSU on the Tiger Rant, though.
