In 4 years Mike Shula recruited only one 5 star at Alabama Andre Smith.

Guy was to soft, terrible OC, lazy, last name got him the job, terrible work out program, terrible organizer, had no leadership skills, blew more 4th quarter game than any coach, no discipline team full of thugs that Saban had to run off.
HAD 1 WINNING SEASON IN 4 YEARS AT ALABAMA. JUST THINK ABOUT THAT.

The biggest indictment of him was under his tenure Alabama entered the 4th quarter trailing 23 times and finished 0-23 in those games iirc.
Meanwhile like 3 games into his first season Saban actually managed a 4th quarter comeback the first time the opportunity presented itself.
Shula had very tough circumstances but he did a really shite job by every possible estimatation.

Im not gonna say Mike was a good HC...he wasnt, nor am I gonna even say hes a good OC. That said, he had a terrible situation at Bama with sanctions and a bad roster at a time when LSU, Auburn and UT contender rosters.
Within his capabilities, he did about as well as could be done and really gave Saban at least some stable ground to work with.

Some of you guys forget how bad the sanctions were at Alabama at that time. The only consolation prize some of those guys got was to go to Hawaii at the end of the season and one of those years getting beat

You could never make me hate Mike Shula. He came to Bama when no one else would, under the worst possible circumstances, and did his best to stabilize the program. Add that to his drive as QB against Georgia and his drive to set up Tiffins kick in the Iron Bowl and everyone can shut the frick up about Mike at Bama.

In the ENTIRE HISTROY of South Carolina football (133 years) we've only had a TOTAL of 10 5* players.
You can shut up now.

Mike Shula had some limitations as a head coach but he took the job under difficult circumstances and always represented Alabama with integrity. Its been almost 20 yrs and 6 national championships since Shula was terminated and Saban began restoring Bama to its rightful place as an elite program. Time to let the Shula hate go and appreciate his efforts at leading Bama out of the darkness. RTR

His team went 6-7 in his 4th year. How many years would it have taken him. 2 years later Saban was ranked #1.

Mike Dubose, who changed the spelling of his name to Mike DuBose is clearly the worst coach and piece of shite to ever be hired at Bama.
He personally destroyed any integrety he and Bama may have had.
The PTB also needed an overhaul. Almost ever school goes thru some shite at some time.
....and yes I choose to Remember Mike Shula as a good QB at Bama.

Shula’s lone five star was drafted in the first round.
Thats 100% Player development. Impressive.

Because it was in May, after spring practice, that it was Mike Price's Destiny to be fired.

He didn't change his name. He only chose to use the correct spelling of his surname since he was now head coach. So basically he's proud enough of his family that he wanted it spelled correctly. He had a lot of faults, as most of us do, but that's kind of commendable in my opinion.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he is lazy. I think he felt an obligation to step in and help out his school in some of its darkest days. I just think he was unqualified to be a HC in college. I also have never thought he was a good coordinator/playcaller either. His last name has kept him in the football coaching circles his entire life. He owes his daddy everything regarding his career.

DuBose beat the old ball sack Spurrier twice in one season. Once in The Swamp and once in Atlanta.
The SEC title game score was 35-7.

I'm not sure why he pretends to be an Ole Miss fan. It's like the LSU grad Alabama fan poster, who is obviously not an Alabama fan. Both of them are horrible posters.

This. And the 2005 season was mostly fun.
