In the Rant’s opinion, who should Florida hire to make them feared again? Let’s keep the options realistic.

They should hire Drink. Lane is waiting for Bama job. They could easily pull Drink

to me the top 3 has to be lane, dabo and chucky Those are the realistic ones imo. I think clemson would let dabo walk but I dont think he is a good choice at all.

the other would be the DC at UGA

but i think it ends up being Lane.

Kiffin and Florida seems like a perfect marriage.

Until Strickland, the DisneyGators and the UAA worry more about what's on the field and not in the Stadium Kitchen: it literally doesn't matter who they hire.

If UF was going to hire Kiffin, or Kiffin go to UF, it would've happened when Napier was hired and he'd be there now. Just don't see that being any different now, especially since he's built OM to be a contender and UF is in shambles

Lane will never get the Bama job. He crapped on too many people on the way out.

He doesn't want it anyway. He's not leaving Oxford any time soon. I'm not saying never, but not within the next 3 years.

For those of you who don't believe this, watch the ESPN E60 on Lane's life tonight. You will understand after watching.

Orgeron maybe? (Of course, the players might have difficulty understanding his instructions.)

Will it even matter. Some Florida folks here have mentioned big problems in the schools administration.

If that is true, that would have to get fixed first if they really want to fix football.

The right coach can demand the fixes as part of the hiring package. That is what Kirby did.

And institutional dawg fans said that Kirby would never come to UGA after we offered him DC and he got a payraise at Bama. Too many "burnt bridges".

Is Ole Miss really a contender? They’ve said that for 3 years now and that haven’t done anything.

Sure, they will some a game here or there that they shouldn’t but they lose a couple they shouldn’t also.

I think Lane has taken Ole Miss as far as they are capable of going. So he may want to move to a school that has shown the ability to win championships before.

They can demand it but the school still has to do it and do it right.

Not sure Lane has the pull to make those demands. Not sure he’s even smart enough to.

Lane

/thread.

As a gator hater, Lane at UF would be legit scary. I would hate to see them rise to prominence again. He's the most proven commodity out there for recruiting, program building in the NIL era, and winning in the SEC. And he won fast in Oxford.

I honestly don't know if he'd leave Oxford this year given what you hear about his personal situation and family life being so good there. And he has massive pull at Ole Miss. Florida's booster & university officials seem to be a hot mess. But they have to make him say no.

After Lane, I think there's a huge drop off if you consider the most likely candidates who might actually say yes.

Hoping Florida keeps their streak going and bombs this hire, too!
