a 2 year drought in national championships seems outrageous considering recent history beginning in the mid 2000s

Is this the year the SEC will rise again?

B!G had to spend more money to win. It's a 2 team league. SEC is still the standard.

No. It’s all over. Tbe most talented and dominant conference in the sport has collapsed entirely in a season and a half.

Like the PAC-12. Like rock-n-roll. Like xerox. Kodak.

All natty’s will now be won by B1G.

Nobody’s counting Michigans championship so really it’s only 1.

Texas was specifically recruited by the University Presidents of SEC member institutions to save the conference.

Michigan 2023 is a hell of a lot more legit than some (BYU 1984, bama 2020*).

No. Texas will choke when it matters like they always do, and the SEC winner will come from one of the other teams. SEC doesn’t even make it to the championship game once again.

Saban retired and everybody has to stand on their own two feet now.

This is what that looks like.

The SEC will rise again. It may need an infusion of some other teams though, to stay competitive.

I was listening to Rocky Mountain High, WV, by Bob Denver, on the radio today and thought, hey, why not invite West Virgina into the SEC?

Looking back over the last 50 years, here are the NC droughts for SEC football.

1975 - 1977 - 3 Seasons
1981 - 1991 - 11 seasons
1993 - 1995 - 3 seasons
1997 - 1 season
1999 - 2002 - 4 seasons
2004 - 2005 - 2 seasons
2013 - 2014 - 2 seasons
2016 - 1 season
2018 - 1 season
2023 - 2024 - 2 seasons

Let me do the same for the Big-10 for you (note that pre-1990 Penn State is independent and Pre-2011 Nebraska is Big-8/Big-12).

1975 - 1996 - 22 seasons
1998 - 2001 - 4 seasons
2003 - 2014 - 11 seasons
2015 - 2022 - 8 seasons

Save the conference? Texas hasn’t won a championship in one of the big 3 sports in 20 years!

I would like the record to note that Michigan 2023 was caught in a widespread cheating scandal in their "championship" season and the coach suspended on and off for half the games and eventually fled to the NFL. And 2024 Ohio State had 90% blue chip players and lost 2 regular season games. We'll see if they can keep this up.
