I'm kind of surprised neither Minkah nor BY made the top 5.

I'll never forget this moment with BY in particular:

In the full clip he goes on to say that he ended up being fond of the guys that got in the doghouse often because they were in his office a lot and he got to know them and talk to them one on one more Haha

I'm sure that off the spot he would probably give a more comprehensive answer with more players mentioned.

No DBs? lol

Minkah was my first thought after Julio and Ro. Maybe AJ too.

Belichick gets a major woody whenever he so much as has a fleeting thought of Lawrence Taylor, and he was one of the biggest headaches ever for a football coach. I seriously doubt Saban gives much of a damn about players who sucked and never contributed much on the field. If being a general PITA was the main criteria for his affection, the Hall brothers (DJ and Agiye) would be at the top of his list.

Kind of put him on the spot. Asking Saban to boil down 17 year's worth of players into a top 5 seems like a lot to ask. Hurts would definitely be in his top 5-10-20 if he had time to put it together, I'm sure.

I just listened to the entire podcast this morning. Lots of stories he never told and a good 1 hr listen. I know probably several of you dislike Ryan Clark, and I've never listened to his pod before this, but he's a good host, at least in this particular episode.

I think Coach probably enjoyed working with guys that needed him. Ro and Rueben definitely needed Saban. Minkah and Surtain were probably lower maintenance.

Tua and Derrick probably pushed for more playing time earlier than Saban had for them so I bet he had to talk with them a lot early on.

Julio was Julio. I imagine having a guy come in like that and change the program was a big deal. He's the only one of the 4 that came in and was ready and mature enough to play from the start. The other 4 required more from Saban.

I teach and coach and some of my favorite kids were also headaches.

The NFL tolerates murderers so no doubt there's some problem children at the college level. A roster full of choirboys won't win anything.

Clark played for Saban at LSU and always has very positive things to say about him. There's a lot of things Clark says that I don't agree with, but I've never seen him be disrespectful when he's hosting things like this.

It is a sport of simulated violence that is not quite so simulated. It takes all types to be a good team but you're gonna need a few people who you wouldn't turn your back on them in an alley to win.

I actually would think T Brown would be on it especially considering those in the doghouse. Brown seemed to be always in trouble but every time you saw him he was always next to Saban.

I'm surprised that he'd address that question.
