When we went to Norman and didn't even compete in a must win Game, we all knew

that this team doesn't show up and is no champion.
I had no thoughts of "playoff" after that night.
It's like a fat chic resentful she isn't Miss America
Get over it.
Maybe the program will find it's heart while sitting at home watching TWELVE other programs meaningfully compete.

Here comes the transfer portal...

Still would like to know just what the frick was going on that night with everything on the line.

They were just poorly prepared and undisciplined. That ultimately comes back to coaching. You have to respect and treat each game with the same level of respect and Saban was exemplary of that. DeBoer and the staff have to learn that you simply cannot let a team get complacent or high off of the wins, because it sets you up for embarrassing losses.

So who are we thinking goes into the portal next? WR Henderson, probably McVay the OT, DL Keeley, and ….?

DeBoer was coddling Milroe telling him no matter what happens his job is secure.
Then he proved it, and put Milroe ahead of an entire team/season.

People keep obsessing over Vandy but I got over that one quickly. That was one of those nights against a decent, competitive team with a great QB (I'd love to have seen Pavia at QB for us).
What happened in Norman was infinitely worse IMO because so much was at stake and we knew what was at stake. It will be a long time before I get over that one.

Two things can be true: Alabama mostly has themselves to blame for being left out and the committee/current format is absolute garbage.

Right. Vandy gave Texas all they wanted in Nashville. Oklahoma was the game that destroyed our chances. Not sure what happened there but it puts DeBoer on a warm seat going into 2025.

I have said multiple times on this forum that the one thing I hope DeBoer takes away from this season, that's burned into his brain for as long as he's here, is that there are no gimmes in the SEC, ever, especially on the road, and that he cannot expect just to show up for a conference game and out-talent everybody. I think everybody connected with our traveling party for that game ... coaches, players, down to the managers and the support staff ... figured all we had to do is show up because we were better than them, and we didn't just get burned, we got incinerated.

Agreed. That was just one of those wtf games like 2010 South Carolina/2021 Texas A&M.
Oklahoma was 2018 championship bad

We controlled our own destiny and crapped the bed. And yes, DeBoer bears some responsibility for that. Although in general ... and this is just me, YMMV ... I am giving him somewhat of a pass for this season because of what he had to deal with when he came in to keep a roster together and because he was stuck with someone at QB that AI couldn't come up with a more polar opposite from the kind of quarterback he needs to run his offense.
And no, he shouldn't be expected to change what he does just to enjoy temporary and transitory success with what he's got to work with, and keep fans happy who can't conceive of us ever having to retool (I laughed at everyone who was griping about how we ought to blow everything up and rebuild with people who want to be at Bama and live up to its traditions and values, our fan base ain't got the patience for that). because that's no way to build for the future.
But that pass ends with our final snap this season. It's on him moving forward.

It was obvious, the coaching staff didn't have the team ready. They thought they could just show up and win. Deboer wasn't ready for the SEC.

I knew it was over when the coaching staff was walking with cigars in mouth before the Vols game...
Bad karma...

Pretty simple really. Milroe threw 2 pick sixes.
Venebles took away Milroe's running and forced him to pass. Game over.

Also true: we were never going to string three games together in the playoffs. Yes, we could beat any given team...but I don't see 3 in a row.
