Bryce Elder is not an MLB pitcher.
I think he would be a serviceable long relief / bullpen arm.
Do you have any idea why they would keep Elder in the rotation and send AJSS down ? AJSS has potential, and they just used his last option to send him down.
This is the most doubt I've felt about AA (our GM) in a while.
Snitker is not good.

I think the biggest story for the Braves right now isn't the 0-7 start- it's the emergence of a legit elite Ace in Spencer Swollenballs.
As a kid I never missed a Maddux start. That was literally must see TV every week in my household. Spencer's command, elite precision, movement on every pitch, and overall athleticism reminds me of Maddux. Even his delivery reminds me of Maddux.
Not saying he's gonna win 350+ games, but I do believe we have a legit Ace no.1 to go with Strider and Sale. Sneak into the playoffs with those three healthy and Braves have a chance to beat anyone.

Alabama is Braves country. Probably the only thing Bama and Auburn fans can agree on.
If you want to participate in this thread you're more than welcome. We already have a couple mets fans that show up sometimes.
(Edit* they're the ones that do all the downvoting in here  )
You can keep us up to date on Dansby. How's he doing ? How's that contract aging with Cubs fans ?

Welp, the Braves are 0-7, and look to have forgotten how to baseball.
No team has ever started 0-7 and made the playoffs.
You cant fire the players even when they get suspended for illegal substances, or beat the shite out of women, or whatever... so, I contend it's time to shake up this coaching staff from top to bottom.

He'd be a great politician.
He and Milroe cut from the same cloth.

2. Will we get Cy Young candidate Strider, or second elbow surgery Strider ?
quote:
The Braves were happy to see him return to the bump on Monday against the Boston Red Sox. Strider pitched two and 2/3 innings, but most importantly his stuff was working as he notched six strikeouts against the eight batters he faced, including five straight punch outs. His fastball was up to 97 mph and he threw 23 strikes on his 27 pitches in his perfect outing.
Having Strider back makes this rotation nasty:
Sale, Strider, Shwetty ballz, Lopez, AJSS

CNS lost 1 time in two decades to Tenn, and that game made me a believer in paid refs.
CNS took Bama one game from a title with nobody coordinators and Radio at QB.
DeBoer took a perennial top 4 team and missed a 12 team playoff.
OP is correct- the loss to Oklahoma was unbelievable. After that game I knew just one year of DeBoer had already dropped us down to "can lose to anybody" status.
Under CNS it was unimaginable to lose... ever... any loss was shocking- even in title games.

MLB is the least popular of the major sports
That is incorrect.
College football will definitely start to lose traction. I stopped watching college basketball when the one and done era began because I no longer knew who was on the team. Sadly this is the first time in my life I couldn't give you the two deep for next years football team.
Baseball is a better product now IMO, and Americans will slowly come home to America's true past time

Best news in a while.
So... whats the final tally on how many coaches / coordinators that had their career derailed by Milroe ? Has to be a record.

Braves to host 2025 All-Star Game at Truist Park
Baseball’s brightest stars will shine bright in Atlanta in 2025.
Commissioner Rob Manfred announced Thursday that the 2025 All-Star Game and the accompanying All-Star Week events have been awarded to the Braves, the third time Atlanta will host the Midsummer Classic.
“I commend Terry McGuirk, Derek Schiller, the entire Braves organization and the Atlanta Sports Council for leading this effort,” Manfred said. “As a model of success on and off the field, the Braves deserve to host the All-Star Game. Truist Park and The Battery Atlanta will provide fans a world-class experience in 2025. We look forward to working with the Braves and local leaders to deliver a memorable All-Star Week that brings people together and benefits the community in many ways.”
The 2025 All-Star Game will be the 95th Midsummer Classic, the first held in Atlanta since 2000, when Derek Jeter earned Most Valuable Player honors at Turner Field. The city’s first All-Star Game took place in 1972 at Atlanta Stadium, highlighted by Hank Aaron’s two-run home run that helped pace an NL victory.

Braves sign Jurickson Profar
ATLANTA – The Atlanta Braves today signed OF Jurickson Profar to a three-year major league contract worth $42 million, with the outfielder set to make $12 million in 2025 and $15 million in each of the following two seasons. Profar has agreed to donate 1% of his salary to the Atlanta Braves Foundation.
Profar, 31, batted .280/.380/.459 over 158 games with the San Diego Padres last season, setting career-high totals in all three triple-slash categories as well as hits (158), runs (94), home runs (24) and RBI (85). He started in left field for the N.L. All-Star team, the first such honor of his career, and garnered his first Silver Slugger award following the season. Profar earned a 14th-place finish in N.L. MVP voting, and his 4.3 fWAR were most by a primary left fielder in the National League. Profar ranked in the 90th percentile or better across baseball in expected batting average (92nd, .282), expected weighted on-base average (92nd, .364), chase percentage (90th, 21.9%) and whiff percentage (90th, 17.0%).
The 6-foot-0, 184-pound native of Willemstad, Curacao, has batted .245/.331/.395 over an 11-year major league career, with 111 home runs and 444 RBI over 1,119 games. Profar has appeared defensively at every position around the diamond except for pitcher and catcher, compiling 549 games in the outfield (499 in left, 33 in right and 21 in center), 219 games at second, 104 at shortstop, 89 at third base and 72 at first. A veteran of nine postseason series, he has hit .258/.340/.292 over 27 career playoff games, including an appearance in the NLCS in 2022.
Originally signed by the Texas Rangers as a non-drafted free agent in 2009, Profar was rated as the No. 1 prospect in baseball prior to the 2013 season by Major League Baseball, Baseball America and Baseball Prospectus. He debuted with the Rangers in 2012 and played five years with the club, and has also appeared with the Athletics (2019), Padres (2020-24) and Rockies (2023).

Last season was totally derailed by injuries. This year the Braves look to get healthy and win 100 games. I've got the Braves and Dodgers meeting yet again in an epic clash for a trip to the World Series.
Talking points entering spring training:
1. Will we get MVP Acuna, or Acuna light ? How many games can he play in RF, and how to manage DH when he needs a day off his legs ?
2. Will we get Cy Young candidate Strider, or second elbow surgery Strider ?
3. Will Jurickson Profar carry his success from last season into this season, or was last year an outlier / regression likely ?
4. Will the Braves find a SS of the future sometime in 25, or will they carry on with Arcia ? (Seriously who is the starting SS next season?)
5. Who wins the 5th starter job ? Can Ian Anderson make a come back ?
6. Will AA make another deal for a SP or BP arm ?

Will Howard is not exactly what I'd call a stud.
4k yards passing, 35 TD's
6'4" 235#
Big arm, usually doesn't make any game crippling mental mistakes. Led OSU to a title...
JJ McCarthy won it last year by being an experienced game manager that didn't give any games away, and made enough plays with his arm and legs to get Michigan to the natty.
I've always thought AJ McCarron has been undervalued by our fanbase because he couldn't run like Hurts, or throw like Tua, but what he brought to the table was a winning formula that I would categorize as a "stud" at the collegiate level.
You dont have to be the first pick in the nfl draft at QB to be a stud ballplayer.

I don't buy into the cult of the all-powerful offensive coordinator and play caller.
The on field results from the Kiffin and Sark years are coincidence ?
What ?
You Don't buy into coordinators and playcallers ?
In this era of semi pro ball the difference between titles and missing the playoffs all together will be:
1. QB play
2. Who has the best playcallers / coaches / development team
The Jimmy's and Joe's of the top 3-5 teams will be nearly identical, but the best QB / playcaller combo will separate from the pack and win the trophy. IMO
*edit- If you don't have a stud at QB the season is over before it begins. Nobody will navigate a 12 team playoff with a milroe.

I stopped watching the pressers mid season. It was clear he was never going to say anything worth hearing.
People that spin everything instead of just speaking the truth... I don't respect that, and frankly dislike anyone that operates like that. Comes across weak and disingenuous.

told me Oatis didn't like how lax the new regime was. Said at away games, every minute was scheduled under Saban. Team ate breakfast, lunch, dinner together, and there were walk throughs, team meetings, and position meetings throughout the day.
Said under Deboer the entire day is a free for all after breakfast. Every man for himself.
And It showed, but hey, the players love the new vibe and music at practice.

Grubb joining the staff would be huge, in my opinion.
Would be a huge upgrade over Sheridan. (No idea how he has supporters on this board) Bama is not the place for a green unproven playcaller.
I don't know what's up with the OL coach, but would love to have him.

Absolutely.
Grubb definitely has more to offer than Sheridan, and he and DeBoer worked well together.
I know Sheridan was dealing with Jillroe, but he was clearly in over his head. I still have no idea what his M.O. was
Does this mean the OL coach is also available ?

Looks like they are saying the same thing to me.
Stein chose to call it "loyalty."
McElroy went a little closer by acknowledging full on "mutiny."
The fact of the matter is there is a lot of smoke around that USF game, and everything that has happened since that day seems to be true... unfortunately.
