Not to kick the trailer park or anything...BUT
Ryan Day Throws Alabama Quarterback Jalen Milroe Under The Bus To Defend Transfer Center’s Poor Snaps
quote:
Think back to the Rose Bowl College Football Playoff Semifinal. You’ll remember that the last play of Nick Saban’s coaching career was a bad snap on 4th and goal.
Here’s a visual reminder. What a terrible way for a legend like Nick Saban to go out.
As Adam Breneman said, if it’s a good snap then the play is going out to the running back on a swing route, and Alabama might have scored. Think of how many things would be different in both college football and the NFL.
A poor shotgun snap was not a rarity for Seth McLaughlin, who served as the Crimson Tide’s center last year. It was happening multiple times a game, and the athleticism of quarterback Jalen Milroe saved them from disaster plenty of times.
McLaughlin decided to leave Alabama after last season, presumably because he would’ve been harassed by his classmates because he couldn’t snap the football accurately. Now, he’s a member of the Ohio State Buckeyes as they look to return to the College Football Playoff.
Buckeye fans are understandably anxious about McLaughlin’s snap problems from last year. Head Coach Ryan Day spoke about the snap issues, and completely threw Jalen Milroe under the bus.

The snap wasn’t perfect. That’s a fact. Monroe also panicked. Also a fact.

He short hopped half his snaps in the Rose Bowl.
Day can claim whatever he wants but none of that was on Milroe.
A cadence issue results in a quick snap not a snap in the grass.

Exactly.. So it would have hit milroe perfectly just at the wrong time

Same thing we all heard about Seth in practice as well. Look, his case of the yipps won't appear against Princeton or Rutgers, maybe not until Penn State or Michigan.... but they will return.
Then, I'd like to be a member of the media.

I’m sure he’d take 1000 Rose bowl questions if it meant he didn’t have to talk about the Cotton Bowl.

If it was a cadence issue wouldn’t that mean that the center would be out of rhythm/not expecting the call leading to a bad snap?

Rat Face Day is a fricking idiot
So the wrong cadence means snap it into the grass? What a moron, wrong cadence would be early snap
Does Day even know football?

The only part of the problem--according to Saban in interviews -- that could be attributed to Milroe was simply that he wasn't good at calling the blocking schemes. So, they had the center do it instead.
That may have led to the center not being as concentrated on the snaps, especially against teams with excellent pass rushes. But he also had consistency issues his entire time at Alabama.

McLaughlin was a full on Rick Ankiel level head case situation and he was largely responsible for not sending Saban out with a championship.
Dude was mostly fine in practice but as soon as the lights came on and people were watching he was in his head from opening kickoff through the rose bowl.
He doesn’t need an OL coach, he needs a psychiatrist.

I played center as a kid and this seems pretty dumb to me.
I don't even know what he means by cadence. If your snaps have to be predictable or something, good luck with that crap. I know we were just kids, but the entire point for us was to not have a predictable cadence.
Was Jalen chanting voodoo curses forcing the bad snaps or something?

Over 30% of Ryan McLaughlins snaps were in the dirt against Michigan. I don’t wish him wrong. But he is where he should be. Far away from Tuscaloosa.

His cadence making him roll the ball back there to him like he was Bowling. Got it.

IDK if I would call him a QB. He is a guy/RB/TE who lines up where a quarterback would be.

I don’t know who’s at fault, but I love seeing all of these experts on Alabama football. We appreciate your interest in our program

What's his excuse for the auburn snap that moved us from 2nd and goal from the 8, to 3rd and goal from the 26

Re-read the post and how Ryan Day said Seth had been excellent in practice.
As my daughter says... Tag... He's yours... no takebacks.
