LMAO at Texas’ puny little reactor.

Missouri also has an NBC affiliate on its campus. It is the only university-owned commercial television station and major network affiliate in the United States that uses its newsroom as a working lab for students. This station also show high school football games & highlights of high school football players that Missouri is recruiting. Mizzou left the Big 12 because it was worried the LHN would show high school football games and highlights (which never happened) all the while it had its own tv station doing that for decades.

Is this where I bring up the painfully obvious and unfortunate fact that Texas' "puny little reactor" is also bigger than all SEC team's except Missouri?

I'm going to start bookmarking threads to decided the off-seasonest of off-season threads. This one has to be up there.

LSU has a natural gas/Steam turbine co-generation plant that does around 20 MW.... directly next to tiger stadium

That's pretty cool. Does the power go back to the grid or to power the university? 20MW is no joke

campus only as i understand. They use the residual steam of the turbine to feed medium pressure steam to the campus and run 6100 tons of steam powered chillers to deliver chilled water to campus
I took a tour of the plant a number of years back. i want to say

Almost as off-season as the threat that Mizzou fan started about movies filmed at SEC locations.

The University of Tennessee Oak Ridge Innovation Institute.
The Vols can’t have this one on campus but it’s a multi site nuclear reactor and weapons manufacturing complex.

Mizzou’s boilers and steam turbines can do 66MW.
The nuclear reactor is for research and isotopes.

That would be an odd thread. Feel like it would be Georgia 100x anyone else.

Yeah this doesn't make me more inclined to catch a game in CoMo anytime soon.

climate in missouri i can see more of a steam demand giving the opportunity for a much larger co-gen plant. in south louisiana, you really only see hospitals, universities, or industrial plants with steam usage, and most dont have enough to justify co-generation
