how is that an advantage? Was Bama the only school doing stuff like this, or able to do stuff like this?

I won't claim to know the inner workings of LSU football operations, but I highly doubt they were buying players under him.

Dude you can't blame him for doing at Bama the same thing he did at LSU. Hell yes we were paying players under him. You don't come into the situation LSU was in back then and sign the #1 recruiting class in your second year without bending the rules. He did the same shite when he arrived at Alabama and UGA is doing the same shite now. You don't sign Top 3 recruiting classes every single year without cheating. It isn't possible.

As an aside, I was at LSU at the tail end of the Dinardo era. I lived in the same apartment complex as Rohan Davey. Rohan used to drive a beat up Crown Vic with the paint peeling off. Rohan wasn't getting paid shite.

No wonder Rohan is such a grouchy poster on here.

Wow. A single 2-point conversion brought out all that venom. Surely that is not representative of most Tide fans.

Saban lost control of his team when he went against coaches advice and allowed the team to dictate his decision to play Milroe. Saban's time had past and coaching won more than hording NFL talent.

Somewhere LdU players and Georgia players and Auburn players and Ohio State players. Let’s not pretend everyone else in the SEC played by the rules and Bama didn’t. That’s bullshite and an excuse from a fan because his team wasn’t as successful as Bama. You must be a democrat.

He’s right. I mean, he was going on 6 seasons without a title, and the landscape changed so much that his championship advantage just didn’t matter anymore. Bama’s team this year was lucky to not to have 3-4 losses, and he probably didn’t think they’d be so lucky next year.

I do think it would’ve been better had he announced at the beginning of the season so that Bama could at least do some more homework instead of settling for a panic hire.

And FYI Bama fans, as much as it seems like LSU fans hate Bama, most of us are hoping they remain competitive so that the Bama LSU games are better. I honestly would prefer to not have to wait until Bama hires a new coach in 2027.

NIL removed some of Bama’s advantages. Plain and simple. I’m not a fan of NIL, but we all know that Bama players were getting paid before and got away with it more than many other programs.

Have you been able to prove any of that?

He quit. Paying players become legal so he didn’t have the one up on other programs anymore so he quit. Plain and simple

Haters can live in a mind palace but a championship game was played in the 2020 season and Alabama won it.

By better, I am guessing you mean that LSU doesn’t go 2-8 in the next ten games like they did the last ten games?

Saban won't be the last. CFB is dead, and there will be a major schism in the next few years. The SEC/B1G will break away and form their own league after they get rid of the teams they don't want.

You will have a semi-professional league and the rest of CFB will form their own league with a lot less talent but more in the spirit of the old game. No NIL outside of the "name" league, just scholarships.

Y’all can blame yourselves for this NIL shite for two reasons:

1. NIL only matters if someone cares so much (too much) about winning that they are willing to pay it.

2. You all want to see an NFL ready WR run that bubble screen (regardless of whether or not he can spell his name), not a future accountant who runs a 5.0 40.

Your obsession with winning and a nearly NFL caliber game caused all this by giving players leverage over everybody.

And coaches bitching about it while making ten figures to run an extracurricular activity can frick off too.

I, for one, find Saban's remarks disturbing and am worried about CFB.

I hope Saban enjoys retirement.
