The more I sit back and think the more Nick stepping down now just feels so weird. This goes against everything he's ever spoken about publicly regarding retirement.
I always thought it would be health related or if we started to lose 3-4 games a year. Then he would be done.
Mack freaking Brown is still coaching at UNC. Anyone think he would outlast Saban?
Saban just pulled in another elite class. He always loved coaching up this kind of talent. He always talked about how not being apart of team terrified him. I figured he'd be here until he was 80.
He did say that he'd know it would be time if he didn't think he could give this place his best. If he ever felt content he knew it would be time...that must have been it. He just didn't have the same drive anymore. More power to him not just coasting through if so. That takes a ton of will power to walk away when you're still winning SEC titles.
I completely understand waking up one day at 72 and being over it but it just feels weird considering the team we have coming back.
Enjoy retirement, coach. It won't be the same without him.

there is a reason that Byrne worked directly, in the flesh, with Jimmy Sexton all day.
Yeah I mean they weren't just in there eating ribs. Well, one of them wasn't at least. Regardless, they weren't chatting about the weather and Byrne isn't stupid enough to let Sexton jerk him around. Some kind of very serious conversation regarding one or more of his clients occurred.

JMO but the reason Jimmy is in T-town is because Nick told him to get his fat azz there.

lol at 9 mil. A&M pays that monthly to fisher. That’s peanuts in buyout money.

I wouldn’t pay a $9 buyout for Dabo.

Kiffin has been at Ole Miss for 4 seasons and has anyone heard of any concerning off the field issues that were real? Did he snort coke off a hooker's arse in his office and get fired because of it? He's been fine there. Mature. And he's won games.
I've been on the Lane train and I'm still on it.
Probably not going to happen, though. Too many old heads concerned over his tweets...
Precisely. Man, how can anyone not see this slow moving train crash ahead of us ? Hire Kiffin, and remove almost ALL risk of falling outside the top 12 (playoff) forever. Why would anyone hesitate to make this move if option 1 (Sark) is off the table ? Even DeBoer comes with more risk than Kiffin. We dont even know if he likes BBQ

Refusing to hire the best candidate over petty nonsense has a real “Pride cometh before the fall” feel to it. Our entitled boosters could be our program’s undoing.
Better get your popcorn and marshmallows out for the upcoming program dumpster fire because it's starting to feel like pride is about to sink the ship.

It seems to me that NFL coaches have better job security and lower expectations. The college game is where we've seen multiple coaches fired less than two years removed from undefeated national title seasons.
I mean there are 8 major head coach vacanies this year, So much of NFL success depends on who you hitch your wagon to and how stable the organization is.

If it's Dabo, rather hire Tosh Lupoi at 4 million per year.

Dabo is now the betting favorite for the job. I know that could and probably does mean nothing but let’s gooooooooo!!!!!

Man ...this sucks
We don't know anything, besides its not Lanning. It's been 48 hours. Multi million dollar contracts take a little time. Especially if they are negotiating things like assistant salary budget.
I get it that things seem like they are out of control and there's no info. But that's probably a good thing.

Good point. Hiring Kiffin would essentially guarantee us a playoff spot every year. He would be able to maintain at least close to current talent levels. You can’t say that for any other Coach on the board.

I thought about that. But Saban left the facility just one hour after Sexton's reported arrival. Sexton stayed, according to those on campus, well into the night.

If we hire someone like Locksley over Kiffin, fans should boycott the games next year. Bryant Denny should be empty if that happens.
I'm not a social media guy, but how do we get a hire kiffin or else hash tag trending toward Byrne ?
Im fricking serious.

I've always heard, and from multiple people, that Dabo would never get an offer to be the coach at Alabama.
Now Kiffin is seemingly in the same boat. Going to be a booster tug-a-war if it comes down to those two.
