I'd figure that we could upload Saban conscience to an AI and have a holographic projection serve as the coach and recruiter. Eternal Saban!

CodeName1 knows. I am hoping he chimes in when a hire is made, although I know he can't give a name.

Refusing to hire the best candidate over petty nonsense

Kiffin isn't getting hired because he's an immature clown that would and should be an OC somewhere if he didn't keep failing upwards. When OM goes 8-4 next year I hope everyone shuts up about his twittering arse.

Kiffin is clearly the best candidate on the board. Has won big in the SEC at a bottom feeder program. Been here before. Wants the job. Fans want him. Would be able to keep our roster and likely add to it, but it’s clear that our boosters are not as committed to winning as we’d hoped.

Honestly, it's a HUGE failure of the Robotics folks at the College of Engineering that they haven't uploaded Saban's brain into a cyborg body by now.

I plan on sending STRONGLY WORDED emails to these professors later today: Robotics - College of Engineering

Proof of concept:

Wouldn't Dan Campbell from the Lions be a perfect fit from a culture fit.

It's unrealistic but that dude seems awesome.

Maybe Saban will get pissed and decide to just stay and kick all these coaches using our search as leverage a lesson!

Winning 10-11 games at Ole Miss repeatedly is incredibly impressive. He could win championships here. Some of these other guys mentioned couldn’t.

At least that’s something to celebrate. Glad we aren’t hiring that clown.

If it got leaked weeks / months / a year before Saban actually retired...it would ruin all kinds of stuff. How do you think recruiting would go.. just one example.

I don't think you understand how real life works. And more specifically, I don't think you understand how the HC hiring process works (or agents)...

I was pretty specific.

Saban could've told him a week before he planned to announce.

That gives him time to do everything we are seeing behind the veil of uncertainty that has been created by years of BS rumors.

It takes pressure off the candidates, himself, Saban and keeps the portal closed while maximizing our odds of hiring whoever Byrne has as his top candidates.

If done after signing day that's not a factor.

I'm not saying its dragged out an unreasonable amount of time. I'm just saying there is a better given modern portal/NIL and media realities.

Two thoughts:

--Some have said if Byrne strikes out on DeBoer, and doesn't hire Kiffin that he ought to be fired. My thought is that he might be fired if he DOES choose Kiffin. If the Trustees instructed Byrne not to touch Kiffin with a ten-foot pole, then his hands are tied.

--If a choice has been made, I wouldn't be surprised if they wait until the thunderstorms pass through before announcing it. They don't want happy or angry or both kinds of mobs out in the weather after the announcement.

Schumann just tweeted a picture showing he's out on the recruiting trail, sooo seems unlikely that he's the guy.

Nick should have taken 2 weeks off and played golf.

He could have gone from the ladies tee box anyway at his age.
