One GM said that portal options are now being explored by NFL talent first before declaring because of how low rookie contracts are for mid-late round dudes.

Dudes are going to be able to retire without ever playing in the NFL

Texas got ripped off. $3.2 million for nothing.

You’re comparing the #1 recruit in his class from a legacy family name to a guy who was a 3 star recruit out of HS and drafted last. Not really apples to apples.
Purdy will be making 200M in 2 years.

Why roll the dice if you get a mid to late round grade when your school is going to guarantee you 6 figures to stay in college for another year.
NFL is all about fit, coaching, and luck. If you get picked up by a bad organization or a team loaded in your spot you may be awesome but not make a roster.

Y’all are comparing endorsements vs nfl salary. But forget to include the endorsements they will make as nfl players also.

He’s been worth it to us even if he never plays a meaningful snap, which he will.

I’d even venture to say college kids are even more marketable regionally than mid tier NFL guys. It’s such a small % of nfl players who make a significant amount of $ through endorsements

Stupid graphic. How much is Purdy making in NIL?

NFL isn’t about the first contract for QBs, it’s about getting to the second contract as fast as possible.

He didn't make $3.2M, that was just some valuation that someone put out there based on something. Even if he was making that, NIL and actually NFL salary aren't the same types of compensation. As someone who lives in the Bay Area, I can guarantee you that Purdy is making much more than his actually salary with commercials, etc.

That Chris Law idiot has since admitted he actually doesn't know how much Arch made on NIL this season, and unless Arch is lying..it's already been put out there he won't do NIL until he's playing. He did do a thing for charity, thats the only NIL I'm aware of. His fam is more than capable of supplying him with a nice apartment/car plus spending cash, it's not like NIL is critical to his college experience. He along with his entire fam know the real money comes later, there's no way any college player is making more than an NFL starter.

Tell me you don't know the difference between bags and NIL without actually telling me. Even if it were bags, that doesn't come from the University. As it is now college football players aren't employees of the university..all they get is tuition, room and board plus the small stipend approved a few years back. Anything else is done by collectives and individual businesses and corporations, not the University itself.

If that's the case then surely the Manning's will come forward with what the bench warmer made last year. I have yet to see it. We all know TX /TX A&M are throwing ungodly amounts of NIL money at recruits. Just wish you guys would quit acting like you are not.

They got $20 million in good publicity by signing him. Also helped pull in other highly regarded players.
Got nothing for $3.2 million?... you must be joking. That was a slam dunk regardless of if he never plays another down of football in Austin.

There is a zero percent chance this will last, they are getting virtually no return on their investment. Right now it’s new and teams are willing to throw money at players.

People just don't get it. Even if arch never starts a game here his value was in his name and the hype that surrounds it. His commitment started a snowball effect of highly ranked recruits to Austin. When you consider how much money programs spend on recruiting it was actually pretty cheap.
I think he'll turn out to be a good quarterback but, even if he doesn't, the recruiting wins because of his coming to Austin make it well worth it.
