re: Trump suspends tariffs on Mexico

What concessions were made by Mexico? Have they released those yet?

None. Do you honestly think they made concessions and Trump of all people didn’t blast it over his social media like he did the last time?

I have to justify my actions several times a day. It’s almost like most people aren’t used to oversight

There’s a big difference between oversight and micromanagement. You are in the micromanagement category.

Mexico already caved Oh noz the stock market went down

How did Mexico cave? All Trump says is he’s paused it for a month “out of respect” for Mexico rather than any sort of concession Mexico provided.

Sounds more along the lines of Trump knowing the Mexico tariffs would frick things up for us.
So, Mr. “I’m all about stopping the death” is about to send civilians who fled the biggest war zone since WWII, back into said war zone where some of them will most likely get killed. The vast majority of these refugees are women and children, btw.

And you guys think he’s actually gives a rats arse about peace and preserving life.

Man, this thing is spiraling. Us the US really going to have to ally with Russia to keep the EU from a World War III? Is it really a World War if it's only Europe involved? Also, if Germany incites yet another World War, they need to be completely dissolved as a country.

You guys have been saying not our problem and to stay out of it, allying with Russia isn’t staying out of it.

This is what happens when we decide to play isolationist, we lose all control of the matter. No reason you guys should be complaining as you were all for it and this was very predictable.

Also it would still be Russia that has incited it.

You frame all of this like it’s a bad thing

Them potentially sitting out a fight we are in with China, and putting their dollars into their own companies instead of American companies is not a good thing for America and our companies.
quote:

What would realistically happen if we just straight up refuse to send any troops or aid?

Well it would just set precedent so when we screw with China eventually they’ll just sit that one out as well. Not to mention they’d build up their own arms industry (as they are now doing) and take the 66% of their defense budget that they currently use on American weapons and start buying from their own companies.

And the nukes will rain. But hey at least I might get a few days off work, but I doubt it.

Putin not going to use nukes unless people are marching on Moscow. Just more nuclear saber rattling (which they’ve repeatedly done) that’s an obvious bluff.

Besides, all mentions of troops are only for after the fighting has stopped. I.e. if there is a fight it means Russia tried to take more territory while the troops are there.

What a moronic thing to post. Yes, Musk fired 80% of Twitter's workforce almost immediately, and revenue dropped. And then it rose again. Last time I checked (about a week ago), revenue was back up to almost the all time high of $1.4billion, but with a drastically reduced workforce. You people on this thread who think you know the first thing about whether a company is being run correctly or not, but who obviously have never done anything in your life but punch a clock (and complain about how the company you worked for was being run) make me laugh. The last time I saw y'all come out of the woodwork was during the COVID lockdowns. All these people on social media blaming businesses (mostly locally owned small businesses at that) for going out of business and/or laying employees off during the lockdowns because "If they were run correctly they would have more than 1-2 months of reserve cash to float them." Without ever stopping to do any simple napkin math to see if their assertion was valid (hint, it wasn't). The average profit margin for small businesses is 7-10%. Let's call it 10% for the ease of the math. The average small business owner takes home a little over $70,000 a year (close enough to that to round down for convenience sake). That means that the yearly revenue is $700,000, or just over $58,000 a month, and expenses comprise just over $52,000 of that. $5,800 left over. Which means if the owner didn't take a dime for him/herself, it would take 10 months to put away one month's worth of expenses. 5 years to accumulate 6 month's worth. And again, that's 5 years of the owner taking home nothing, just paying bills and socking away what would have been his take home to prepare for an international pandemic. Actually, it would take longer than that, because taxes would eat up a percentage of that monty, but for simplicity's sake... This is the kind of very simple stuff that you armchair business owners have no clue about, but freely opine about.

X like most tech companies live off of H1Bs that they can drive into the ground 60-80hr a week. The non H1Bs putting in similar time aren’t going to take a low paid government job.

Saying something worked at a tech company like X so it’ll be totally fine at a government job is so laughably stupid I’m almost speechless…almost.

Is it really? (It’s not.)

Firing almost 200 people and then realizing so quickly that you shouldn’t have done that (that means it should have been obvious from the start) is a clown show. Just because some clowns do that dumb shite in private industry doesn’t make it less of a clown show.
It’s like you guys don’t realize we’ve been down this road already and came out worse for it:

But why is he letting the bully get off?

Because he’s a puss who dodged the draft because of “bone spurs”. You guys think he’s going to do dick to a former kgb agent who’s whole career is based off controlling and eliminating billionaire oligarchs?

Boy, have I got news for you.

How much money has putin asked us for, you stupid bastard

This has nothing to do with peace, if that’s actually the goal here (it’s not).
quote:

Hope that clears it up for you.

Clearly no one gave Lavrov the memo therefore those talks had absolutely nothing of substance/merit:

LINK
quote:

No, this isn’t true or correct. Trump made clear multiple times that he wants a ceasefire and the fighting to end and for the parties to negotiate a peace agreement

Let me clear it up for you. One party says they don’t want a cease fire, Trump says nothing. The other party says they don’t want one, Trump loses his mind on that party. Actions clearly show he just wants one side to lose.

If you don’t want to give equipment fine, but stopping intelligence on incoming missiles and even telling the UK not to provide intel, is purely about making a country lose and have more people in that country die.
quote:

Holy smokes, you’re dumb!

When all you can say is someone is dumb without any actual argument, you pretty much prove to all involved that you’re the idiot. Just a pro tip for life in general.
quote:

Ukrainian deaths don’t appear to be a concern for Vlod. Trump’s the only one I hear that seems to think the deaths of the brave Ukrainians matter.

If that were the case he’d also be asking Russia for a cease fire. Before the Oval Office meeting, Russia (lavrov) said they won’t accept a cease fire. Trump said nothing. Then when Z said he won’t accept a cease fire without a guaranty (since Russia has made clear they won’t stop) everyone loses their mind.

This isn’t about peace, it’s about Ukraine losing. If it were about peace he wouldn’t be trying to get only half of the relevant parties to stop fighting.
You’re leaving out the part where we also stopped telling them Russian missiles are incoming. I.e. leading to more civilian deaths.

Not to mention some are directly linked to the chip act, you know that thing that Trump says he wants to get rid of.
