Offf topic, but that economic boost is another reason why the playoff really needs to have on campus quarterfinal games. The fiesta bowl isn’t a major part of Phoenix’s economy, but an on campus game would be huge for Lubbock businesses.
I mean, I hate having to play him  but don’t hate him like I hate someone like Hugh Freeze.

Serious question, who hates Kirby? I feel like he is the most respected coach in the game. Only active natty winner besides Dabo and Ryan Day and way more liked than either of them

Blame the bowl games. They insisted on being a part of the playoff but refused to move off new year’s.

This would be solved if we let the 1-4 seeds host quarterfinals on campus and then just used bowls for the semis, but bowl people would have a conniption.
And that’s why Vegas has palatial casinos and you have a double wide with a mortgage

Very interesting. Looks like Bama finished 1963 ranked 8th so we can’t say the winner has always gone on to a natty. But 2 out of 3 ain’t bad.
Pretty sure UGA is the home team so we will be wearing our whites with the Powder helmet. Could be red numbers or powder I guess

Fun Sugar Bowl History

Posted by Dixie.Reb on 12/22/25 at 2:31 pm
In 91 years of being played, the Sugar Bowl has featured an SEC team in all but 12 matchups.

The matchup this year between UGA and Ole Miss is just the 4th ever SEC vs SEC Sugar Bowl, and Ole Miss is the only team to play in more than one of those games going 1-2 in the previous 3.

The only previous SEC vs SEC Sugar Bowl rematch was in 1960 with Ole Miss avenging its regular season loss to LSU 21-0 to claim a share of the National Championship.

The more you know

If this is true, why did we lose 3 one score games after Judkins left because we had to run a DT on 4th and short?

You’re confusing the NFL (32 teams, more than 32 average RBs because you can have 5-10 year careers and a new crop of backs is draft eligible every year) with college (136 teams, only 4 year careers, and way fewer high level backs each year. Probably 5-10 out of 136 if we are being honest)

I’m not saying $2 mil is a bargain, but if we think the rest of the roster is playoff caliber then you absolutely pay it because the lack of an elite back is worth 1-3 losses in the SEC.
Kirby is the best defensive coach in football. What exactly is Lane going to tell him he doesn’t already know from the last 3 times playing ole miss?

Unlike Lane, Pete doesn’t spend all his time on social media. Those follows could be from years ago
I am not ready for a head coach that is younger than me and still looks even younger  . Also, major difference between calling plays and running a program. Pete has seen a Saban program from the inside which has to be an asset

No? I just said even power teams get blown out so don’t use JMU as an excuse for kicking the G5 out of the playoff.

All this is really the ACCs fault for adding Cal, Stanford, and SMU. And then creating tiebreaker rules in crayon.

Hope your tickets are actually for Jan 1 because that’s when the game is

Penn State beat SMU by 28.

Stop getting mad about about JMU taking a spot from a team that lost to the only good teams they played (ND/Vandy) or lost 3 games including a bad loss to UF (Texas). Power conference teams control their destiny to make the playoffs and need to accept it when they fall short.
First one was a graphic subtweeting us about how he has the best offenses since helmet comms were allowed, second one was “congratulating” Pete with a Trinidad flag, other ones were about the Oregon game.
Lane has tweeted 4 times today about our game and the other playoff games. Meanwhile Pete hasn’t tweeted in 4 days. And the only thing he has tweeted since being named the coach on December 2nd is 8 shark emojis for various recruiting wins or coaching hires. I love him already.
You know, since he doesn’t care about the money?

$250k probably gets you a nice backup O Lineman. And who knows, if Golding makes it to the title game that’s $750k for some new DBs
All the LSU fan reactions are giving me a laugh, but comparing lane kiffin to butch davis has to take the cake
