Still have no idea how Pete will do as a coach long term, and you have to recruit your own roster every offseason, but this recruiting sets us up really well for the next 3-4 yrs
Yeah, and Texas/Mizzou also have titles prejoining.

A&M/Arkansas are the only ones without any titles at all.
Congrats to the following additions who have justified their invite:

OU
South Carolina

Probationary members:
A&M
Texas
Mizzou

Cautionary tale:
Arkansas

Much cheaper to go midweek if we advance and you have flexibility. Lots of empty hotels after eliminations start on Monday
I mean, with soresby ordered to miss week 1 now it might be worth it to shut them up. No way the backup beats Texas right?

If it has happened before it was probably either Rod Dedeaux, Auggie Garrido, Mike Martin, Mark Marquess or Gene Stephenson. Maybe Cliff Gustafson or Ron Fraser?

Yeah, the combo of needing a 20+ year coaching career and making multiple CWS 20 years apart (hard even combining assistant and head coach years) really narrows it down.

Can’t think of any UT or FSU families off the top of my head. Brothers yes, father/son no

Coaching 2 generations in the CWS

During our Super, the announcers mentioned that Bianco coached Eddy Furniss in the CWS at LSU and now coaching Will in the CWS this year.

Curious, has anything like that happened before? I’m sure there have been fathers and sons that made the CWS before, but playing for the same coach feels unique.

I assume we get the Friday night game against either UNC or USC?

Sorry, you must be lost. This thread is only for teams that have to worry about playing Troy in Omaha.
If we make a run in Omaha, whoever convinced bianco to play Randle in the outfield needs a raise. No way we win this super with Topher Jones or Brett Moseley as an auto out in the lineup.

3-6 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI in the 7 hole is clutch.
We already know they can beat SEC teams

Aight how about this: bragging about championships from the 90s in 2026 is embarrassing. UGA was getting memed about 1980 in 2012 and no one thinks 1998 matters for UT.

LSU is a top 2 baseball program. No need to go back to the pre cell phone era to prove it

Said it all year, but the margin between 0-2 and getting to Omaha is super fine for this team. We have 3 pitchers that on any given day could go 6 scoreless innings and 2 bullpen arms that can be shutout as well. Or they can give up 6 runs in the 2nd inning. On offense, we will hit home runs, just depends on whether they are solo shots or 3 runners.

Damn, it’s a curse being able to see the future
It’s totally fair to say that Bianco wasted some great teams. But in the grand scheme of things the top line results have generally been what you would expect.

Also: hiring a pitching coach is a big adaptation that has driven our wins this postseason. No way bianco dials up the changes this good.

LSU has 8 national titles since 1991 in college baseball.

Bragging about gorilla ball championships with juiced bats is like Lance Armstrong bragging about his PED Tour de France wins.

Since NIL started, LSU and Ole Miss have the same number of Omaha appearances: 2

Mike Bianco Recognition thread

Not an apology thread, but I will admit that I think a lot of the Bianco hate is driven by things that happened almost 20 years ago. Coaches learn and evolve so I’m not sure it’s still fair to hold 2009 against him in 2026.

Since 2014:
Missed tournament 2017, 2023, 2024
Lost in a road regional 2015
Lost as a regional host 2016, 2018, 2025 (these hurt the most)
Lost in game 3 of supers on the road: 2019, 2021
Made it to Omaha: 2014, 2022, 2026

Is there anyone who has been more consistent AND has a natty in that time frame? Maybe LSU and/or UF but that’s probably it. Even vandy has had slumps. Yes, we should arguably have 2-3 more Supers and 1-2 more Omaha trips but he really has met any reasonable standard over the last 13 years.
Is Georgia’s outfield a trampoline? Never seen a bounce like that lol
So many intentional hit by pitch calls are subjective. That was probably the most obvious one I have seen.

Also, if an elbow guard goes past the elbow. It shouldn’t count as HBP.
Feels like hooks still has 1-2 more innings this weekend? Need 6-7 from Rabe
If you told me before the game that Hooks would come in with a 3 run lead needing 6 outs, I would take it all day.

Just hope he can deliver
