Whoever the so-called journalist is who wrote this should write about something they know about, like maybe Bammer football.

Nope
It’s a stupid premise to even consider in my opinion. Enjoy Freeze ball, it’s not even really started yet.

It was Blake Toopemeyer of USA Today (know nothing about him). I am paraphrasing some things and added a bit of my own, but that's basically what he said.

Would we have had a better record over the past 2 seasons? Yes.
But there is a difference between “we should have kept Gus” and “we made a shite hire with Potato.”

With a 12 team playoff, you don’t have to be an SEC Champion or even runner up probably to get in. Bama and Georgia are probably going to be always in so the challenge will be for the third spot. We hopefully will have enough talent to compete if we keep up with a top 10 or just outside recruiting class. If we can’t at least get that third spot maybe every other year, it won’t matter who the coach is, they need to be gone.

It was time for Gus to go.
The AD should not have been allowed to hire Harsin.

So, I guess Georgia should have kept Mark Richt?

Auburn could have prevented some of the issues after gus if they would have hired anyone other than harsin. If they would have gone after Dillingham or any up and coming coach with ties to the south it may have been a better decision.

Nope.
Gus was in a rut and would not adjust his offense. Plus he could not get SEC level olinemen. He is like a lawn care service. You have to get a new one every so often cause the current one gets sloppy.
Freeze has a fire in him to make it in the SEC. He knows he has been given a second chance.

Firing gus wasn't the issue.
Hiring the worst coach in Auburn history was the issue. Harsin set the program back 4 to 6 years, maybe more since he set us back in the time of NIL starting.

How is old Gus doing. Ruining another program. Arkie should hire him.

*sigh* Okay… I’ll give it a go
Yes but because Harsin could not have been a worse fit. But let’s also not act like things were trending up or even sideways with Gus. The class he left was very lowly ranked and it didn’t seem like it was getting better. We would probably have 4 scholarship OL if he were here.
This is the most beta-arse, bitch shite I’ve ever read on here. Everyone on here has seen this school play in multiple NCs but we are supposed to suddenly lower expectations to 7-5 from now on because Harsin couldn’t do it?

Gus went 8-4, never had a losing season, and almost all his crootin classes were top 10. AU spent $20 million to fire him and the program is in worse shape compared to where it would be if he had stayed.

15th is about the best AU can expect in recruiting, which is actually worse than Gus.

In other words, 7-5 or 8-4 is about all AU can ever expect and they need to learn to be content with it and stop wasting money on buyouts.

No. Gus had run it's course at AU. I was happy with how Gus handled the program and the big wins. Lots of great things happened under his time at AU.
However, his brand had started to become stale and we would have probably been a 9-3 or 7-5 team most years.
Yes we are somewhere around 15th all time in wins. But our highs are very high and lows are very low. That's Auburn football for you. I love it regardless if I want 12 wins every year the emotional rollercoaster of being an Auburn fan is what makes it so great to me. Perfect example is just 10 years ago. 2012 went 3-9 2013 played for the national championship. You never know when an undefeated season will pop up.
Thanks Gus but it was time to move on. I'm not judging Freeze's record until the 2025 season. I said that when we fired Haskins that it would take 2-3 years to clean up the mess that frick face left.
