Jones didn't coach the last 2 games of his last year. He was fired at 4-6 so technically no, he isn't. Dooley was 1-15 in conference his last 2 seasons combined. Butch was never close to that bad.

Croom doesnt belong if Harsin isnt there.

The fact that TWO Tennessee coaches from the 2010’s made the list ahead of Butch Jones is absolutely wild.
Butch Jones was an average coach. He is nowhere near one of the worst. He was arguably better than Ray Goff for us.

Shula wasn't even our worst coach this millennium
Maybe I'm giving Dubose too much credit due to his SEC title but if you stuck a gun to my head and told me to choose between Shula and Dubose, I'd rather you just pull the trigger.

Would be on the Auburn Mt Rushmore

Butch won 1 conference game without Josh Dobbs as a starter.
Again. You're looking at the record. I'm looking at the program. Butch Jones was the dumbest of the three, and was carried by Josh Dobbs and two highly touted recruiting classes. If Josh Dobbs goes to Virginia Tech or Georgia Tech, Jones doesn't make it past year two.

I forgot how bad arse Dooley orange pants were. I'd say he was better than Pruitt.

Yet another one who looks at the record but not any deeper.

is that not what coaches are evaluated on?

I definitely didn't think this at the time, but in hindsight, Shula did a pretty good job of keeping the program from completely falling apart to the point where no one could save it (ie. Miami, Nebraska, etc.)
Timing was also bad for him as SEC dominance started around the same time he took over.

No Ray Goff?
Do you honestly think Ray Goff is one of the 4 worst head coaches in the history of hte SEC? He went a combined 19-5 in 91/92 and beat Ohio State in the citrus bowl to finish in the top 10 after 92. He had really bad years too but he is no way whatsoever one of the worst of all time.

He was a terrible coach, but Butch could recruit very well just not at positions of desperate need. With him it was just all about getting as many 4 stars as possible with a 5 star here and there.
That 2016 Tennessee roster was very talented on the two deep.

Shula’s record vs Auburn makes him seem worse. Same with Bill Curry. But he definitely wasn’t altogether bad. I really credit Joe Kines though for that defense always being solid. Kept Bama in games and won some games they should have lost

He didn't actually recruit any better than Pruitt or Heupel, or Kiffin, or anybody that's been at Tennessee. He just happened to have two strong in-state and legacy filled classes back to back. The only real big recruiting win he had was Kamara, who was looked at as damaged goods.

Harsin is easily #1. At least all the others on this list tried to recruit. Harsin couldn’t even get into the Saban rehab program after Auburn.

The 2003 season was easily the worst coaching job i have ever seen. He took a team that went 10-2 the year before and shite the bed with it.
Especially when he had 17 players on the first team O and D that made NFL rosters. Thats criminal
