Alabama wasn’t good then. Although he did beat saban in his first year. That was our last win against bama

Croom was awful

Croom was bad but not everywhere. He refused to change any coaches out to run a new offense. His teams beat Bama in 06 & 07 and winning 8 games in 2007.

His offenses sucked badly though. He may have been the worst coach ever for that side of the ball. The offense sucked worse under him than at anytime of my lifetime and I am old. They could not complete a pass vs air, no defense required.

Croom coached in the NFL and his play calling philosophy is fine but his ability to teach it was off the charts bad. I saw play after play of a wide open RB out in the flat that if he were hit in stride would have been a successful play but the ball would either hit ground or the RB have to stop to catch it, which allowed the pursuit to blow them up for no gain, minimal gain or a loss and it never got better. In fact, it got worse the longer he was there.

Never forget Curley Hallman beat the defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide on the road in 1993

Alabama had to play David Palmer at Qb for much of the game.

David Palmer was the third QB for Bama after Burgdough and Kitchens. Bama wins if they start Palmer....guy was an electric runner.

It might just be me, but it looked like they used to hit harder back then.

I do not care what happened in 2019…

Ed Orgeron absolutely deserves to be on this list. What he did from 2005-2007 was unprecedented awfulness.

Easily top 5 worst coaches of all time.

If we're talking all-time, then Ears Whitworth has to be #1. To go 4-24 at Alabama of all schools takes a special kind of ineptitude.

Chad Morris has a strong case for #2 though.

Morris is the worst coach probably in the history of the conference.

That dude shocked have been locked up for what he did to Arkansas.

Hiring him to begin with was a WTF move. On paper, it would look like he turned SMU around but look at that 7-5 record at SMU the season before he was hired and tell me what win you'd say is impressive, because I can't find one.

Nevertheless, Arkansas hired him.

Morris's "accomplishments":
Loses to Colorado State. Colorado State finished 3-9 that year, so not only was it a loss to a G5 school, it was a loss to a bad G5 school.

Boat raced by UNT, a team he beat the year before as SMU's coach.

Lost to Matt Luke. Twice.

Was absolutely lucky to escape with a win at home vs. a FCS team that finished with a 5-7 record.

Became the first SEC coach to lose to San Jose St.

Absolutely destroyed by a former Razorback QB who transferred to Kentucky, the Western one, not the one in Lexington.

Charlie Pell for UF. Winless season and got us in hot water with the NCAA, costing us 2 SEC titles and 2 Sugar Bowl appearances.

He should be crowned Worst of All Time.

He was, and always will be, the absolute Worst of All Time.

The crap he pulled, the excuses he made, the back biting, the behind the scenes spineless shite he pulled followed by what he did when he was fired ... the guy is a total waste of human skin.

I'm glad he was replaced with Saban but he had a decent season in 2005, and Bama was dealing with sanctions his entire tenure.

I feel like Bryan Harsin could be somewhere in there.

Harsin never had a chance because Auburn fans and boosters interfere with recruiting and tried to smear his reputation and get him fired for a cause.
