Business wise, not just from their pro career.

Off the top of my head Jerry Jones and Jerry Richardson (Owner of Hardees & former owner of Carolina Panthers).

Was reading an article about how 78% of NFL players go Bankrupt after their career and thought of this question.

Colinsworth will be in the announcer hall of fame which I think is notable.

Payton, Bo and Charles immediately come to mind but there are many others.

Heath Shuler has HOF talent but injuries and the misfortune of being drafted by the Washington Redskins ended his career. He quickly returned to DC as a congressman (blue dog Democrat) and served honorably before returning to North Carolina and establishing himself in real estate.

His politics aside(he wasn’t a terrible democrat but there are very few good ones) he has done very well for himself despite his plan A falling through.

Craig Colquitt broke the genetic code to breeding elite punters.

Bob Baumhower did pretty well for himself in the restaurant business after retiring from the NFL.

VERY impressed with what Shaq has done. He is probably the standard.

For Aggies, Dat Nguyen has done well for himself after leaving the NFL.

One of the biggest for Georgia was Billy Payne.

All SEC and All American.

He led the campaign for Atlanta to win the summer Olympics (CEO in 1988). After winning the bid, he was the chair for the games.

Then he became chair of Augusta National in 2006.

Chase Daniel.

You could basically say he’s been successful since his career ended at Mizzou.(which is when his playing days basically ended lol)

Long time NFL backup that has made starter money for being known as “the best NFL backup” without ever really playing.

Already has an analyst job lined up when he officially retires and already stepping into the role now on NFL network.

I know Tom Cousins went to UGA but I think he played golf at UGA and he’s a billionaire a couple times over. He also got the Hawks to Atlanta and basically brought Eastlake Golf Club, Bobby Jones home course, back to her former glory…and today it hosts the Tour Championship. He’s prob done more to buy up slums and make quality housing in town than anybody. Fine man.

Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer from Arkansas come to mind (if you are including Jerry Jones from that era).

John Croyle founded The Big Oak Ranch. Not sure how everyone else measures success but I would call his mission "successful!"

quote:

Jerry Richardson (Owner of Hardees & former owner of Carolina Panthers).

The Jerry Richardson I met, years ago, played ball at Wofford. I know two of his close personal friends, one living in Memphis in the car business and one in Atlanta ... which is how I met him. His son has some connection to Clemson which escapes me at the moment.

Jerry Richardson is not SEC alumni to the best of my knowledge. Matter of fact he had a falling-out with us when Mike McGee refused to allow the expansion Panthers to play in Williams-Brice while Panther Stadium (Nokia) was being built.

ETA: Kai Kroger, the best punter in the nation much less the SEC, has done quite well as the Kaibota tractor and lawn equipment spokesman.

Billy Cannon made millions as a dentist I think it was ... gambled some away.
