2020 Alabama wouldn't have gotten within 3 TDs of 2019 LSU.
Yet a true freshman Bo Nix got within 3 points in Baton Rouge.

I’m sorry pal but there is no planet I’ve ever lived on where Joe walked into a better situation in Cincy than Mac did in New England.
Both teams were great and both overcame obstacles to win the NC!
As far as your comment, Burrow struggled a lot before he was reunited with Chase. He struggled this year when Chase got hurt. Bill won’t get Mac help on offense but the Bengals have gotten help for Burrow.

Alabama can't help who the committee put in the playoffs. The GOAT team is 95 Nebraska.
Nor should they be anointed greatest team of all time. 2019 LSU’s resume is infinitely better than 95 Nebraska or 2020 Bama.

It’s not. There is no team in CFP history that could cover all three of Jefferson, Chase and Marshall with Burrow throwing them passes. Mac Jones on the other hand throws a very defendable ball.
2016 Ohio State would have the defensive personnel to make it interesting (5 first-rounders in the secondary, Nick Bosa, Sam Hubbard, Dremont Jones, Jerome Baker, and some other NFL draft picks) but the offense was so laughably bad that they'd still get smoked by 2019 LSU. The real way would be to have a historically great defensive line like 2016 Clemson or a random Bama team since the only way to stop a Joe Burrow offense is to actually sack him (see 2021 Bengals).

Look y'all have the right to feel 2019 LSU is better or whatever but this is asinine bs. This is just looking at the talent on the rosters. Cause the 2019 bama team, coaching Included, did not hold a candle to 2020 bama

All comparisons to each good team start with “are they the next 2019 lsu” I’ve never heard are they the next 2020 bama? 2019 lsu beats 2020 bama by 3 touchies

It really has to be rough being an LSU fan sometimes. LSU circa 2003: "Wow, this Saban guy is a great coach! Look how far he's brought our program!" Alabama: "Hold my beer." LSU in 2011: "Damn, our team is great this year! Best defense of all time! Chalk up another natty!" Alabama: "Hold my beer." LSU in 2015: "Leonard Fournette is the most dominant running back in the SEC since Bo! He's unstoppable! Just give the man the Heisman now!" Alabama: "Hold my beer." LSU in 2019: "Wow! The greatest team to ever play the game! Just incredible how dominant we are!" Alabama: "Hold my beer."
You mentioned two national championship years lol. Yea, so tough. Just because Bama loves to fabricate hardship doesn’t make it true.

Most star players opted out, and every team Bama played was sitting cats with covid.
The only thing worth noting about Bam in the asterisk year, was that they kept their players generally covid-free.
They put up points against completely covid-depleted units every game.
2020 and 2021 are asterisk years, because of goofy testing and quarantine protocols.
2022 is the first normal season since LSU won their title in 2019.

I'll list the Top 5 according to ESPN... 1. Alabama - 2020
The Crimson Tide had the Nos. 1, 3 and 5 finishers in the Heisman voting. They played one game decided by fewer than 14 points. They bested an SEC-only schedule by an average of 30.2 points per game. Their defense struggled early but allowed only 15 points per game after mid-October. This was the best Nick Saban team ever and quite possibly the best of the 21st century. Best team ... from the best coach ... with the best dynasty of the 21st century (at the very least)? Sounds like the best team of the CFP era
2. LSU - 2019
Well, that settles it baws!

Wrong! Just shows how politics have taken over just about everything.

Alabama’s 2019 team was better than their 2020 team.
2020 was a really down year for CFB and strange with all of the Covid stuff going on. Alabama’s championship opponent only won 7 games and never really had time to gel as a team.
LSU and Auburn were awful, Florida was an average 8-4 team, and Georgia was way down.
It was historically one of the easiest paths ever to a championship.
That 2020 bama team loses by double digits to 2019 LSU.

The challenges that Saban faced that year is one of the reasons that was a special team. Our star players could have opted out and gone pro but Saban kept them together.
2019 LSU and 2020 Bama were both great teams!
