Fair enough.

You said these hires made Hugh look like a hill Billy huckster…. If you’re telling me that’s not a strong reaction to two run-of-the-mill coordinator hires, then so be it.

Then don't go back and forth with me.
Very respectfully to you. I'm not here being an arse like some of you but enjoy good conversation.
Not that I need to explain my comments to you but...
Baylor, Arky, Georgia Tech are P5 schools. Same LEVEL as Auburn. just because the press does not report it does not mean there was not other interest in the man.
I did not state that I knew the reason he was hired. Aranda was tutored under him and I just suggest that there COULD be other reasons involved as well. We don't know and never will.
Your lack of comprehension to my words related to the fact that you do not like the hire and don't care much for me. It provoked you to respond in a negative way where I stated facts.
You seems like a guy that just wants to look at the negative so I welcome this back and forth.
I'm kinda glad I look in the positive side of things. To many of you negative Neds out there. P

I’m being an arse because I disagree?

You have a more positive outlook. Nothing wrong with that. We’re just not going to agree.

I didn’t deny the interest. In fact I listed GT as the other school you were talking about because I saw the same report. Baylor however was not because they are the school that fired him.

They are absolutely not the same level as us. Maybe you’re not as positive as I thought.

I agreed with this so not sure what you’re countering here. I said there could be reasons but unless you could point out what those reasons were then im not going to assume there were reasons because most of the time it’s purely due to performance.

I disagree with a lot of people I like. I wouldn’t take it so harsh next time.

No, I said I’ve always had that impression of him and these hires, after making the statement he made in his presser, reaffirmed that impression. That’s been my opinion of him since the OM days. I’m willing to come around and wanting him to change my opinion. That’s why I’m on the fence and not against his hiring. The staff hires were his first opportunity to pull me off the fence. Recruiting is his second.

If Harsin hired a freshly fired coordinator at a lesser program to come to AU for the exact same position he just failed at, this board would have lost their mind.

No need to label anyone with "strong negative bias" that points out that it's clearly not a homerun hire.

He could be great in the end, but take off the freeze color glasses. Harsin hired the same guy, we would have rioted.

Harsin hired coaches no one else wanted outside freaking Boise State.

You’re only describing the Roberts hire. Montgomery is similar to Harsin hiring Mason…. It was a mixed bag, but mostly folks were okay with it.

Most folks (myself included) are like warm on the Roberts hiring.

My thoughts and opinions were stated clearly and fairly. They don’t need any reframing from you or anyone else.

Maybe if Mason had won the Broyles Award and coached a Heisman winner.

Montgomery is an excellent hire. He’s similar personality-wise to Freeze, but he will bring the Art Briles offense to Freeze’s playbook.

I’ve barely paid attention to the latest conversation but why will Montgomery be a mixed bag? He is the most exciting of the two.

Voice of reason here. Freeze came from Arky State, built a staff that beat Saban's best teams. shite happened, then he went to Liberty. A school who just went to FBS. Turned an Auburn reject into an NFL QB. Beat established teams with historical resumes. Let's just say, I kinda trust his judgement when it comes to football. If his hires are good enough for him, they are good enough for me.

Maybe you can preach to the heathens of the board and not to the choir. I’m just not going to continue to make arguments that get nowhere, except the same for and against.

I’m ready for them to show me now. The staff and coaches are in the barn and not a damn thing anyone can do. I need no reasoning but thank you just the same.

I dunno why people hate the Roberts hire. One of their choices was Odom who just had one of the worst defenses in FBS this season. So why is he better? (And, no, I don't think one season should define Odom either).
