I HATE THE NIL

The starting QB at the University of Alabama is what so many kids grow up dreaming they will one day become. Over the years the starting QB for my Tide is looked at as almost a God like figure. Leading a school with so much tradition and the way the fans treated you money simply can't buy. I don't know about you, but I don't like the fact that our QB is already a millionaire. I think it takes a way from some of the pride and tradition of being the Alabama QB. Bryce Young is not a professional football player, he is a player for the University of Alabama. What does he have to strive for if he is already making millions? There were times this year when he ran out of bounds or didn't fight for the extra yard or 2 and all I could think about was it would be different if he wasn't rich already! You are taking the fun out of being a college student and the big time recruits are professional athletes and the guys who weren't so highly recruited are college students. With the NIL deals and transfer portal why are we trying to become the NFL? I know it means nothing these days, but they are called student athletes. Recruits get to choose what school they go to, they should not be a loud to up and leave after a year with no consequences. Wake up college football

Hate it all you want. But it’s not going away. The NCAA had years to put rules in place and they balked. Now instead of keeping some of the value and tradition of college football, we get minor league football.

I can 99.99% guarantee that every coach on the team told him to step out a yard or two early instead of taking the hit...unless the game is on the line late in the 4th.
FWIW I don't like NIL either but its not like Bryce came here because of NIL.

maybe you can target some players as being unworthy of their NIL deals (Uiagalelei or Rattler) but Bryce Young is not one of these guys. I think most bama fans watching the end of last season saw someone giving everything they have and then some. So far he is an amazing representative of the university

No kidding. Bryce left it all out on the field all season and this dipshit is bitching about him not trying to lower his shoulder into a linebacker as if he's some 6'5" 230 pound tank like Coker. He's a good kid who represents the school well on and off the field. Dude has earned every penny of his NIL money.

Capitalism for me but not for thee.

Spoken like someone that has no clue what it takes to make it to D1 scholarship football.
The power, strength, and speed of these athletes means it could be their last game every time they suit up. Hell, it could be the last time they walk, or have a clear thought, or get out of bed without pain... for the rest of their lives.
You got zero problem with them risking everything for your amusement- generating millions of dollars in entertainment value, and possibly getting left out in the cold if they get injured, or dont make it to pro ball like 99% of college athletes ?
Bryce Young is a perfect example of who was supposed to benefit most from NIL. Kid is as good an ambassador for the UofA that has ever wore that uniform.
Chill out, and eliminate the clutter from your mind. Focus on your family and bbq on Saturdays this fall, and enjoy the games. Bama going undefeated this year... most likely thanks to BRYCE YOUNG

I'm happy as hell that he's getting paid! I will not hate on anyone for getting paid for doing honest work.

What do first-round picks have to strive for when they're already making millions? This is such a dumb line of reasoning.

NIL and transferring whenever you want are not the same thing.

College football is on the downslope. NIL, transfers, conference realignment, watered-down playoffs, over the top safety rules, etc etc. The golden age of college football is over.

I’ve seen some dumb takes and this is definitely top 10

Its one thing to express an opinion but anyone claiming to support this program should choose another hill to die on if theyre trashing Bryce and can frick off. NIL was intended for cases like Bryce, hes earned everything hes gotten and represents himself and the school as well as anyone ever has, àll the while deflecting all the oraise hes gotten

The way it's being implemented will harm the sport.
Combine that with the transfer portal. And the NCAA is considering removing a limit on transfers. So in theory someone could transfer every year.
It becomes worse than the NFL, which has a salary cap and better rules around trades/transfers.
I'm glad payers are getting paid. I just wish it wasn't a free for all. You know it's a cesspool at the moment.
Having said all of that..Bryce has been nothing short of heroic, and a class act.
