South Carolina is a total shithole

The “Big House” at Michigan. Easily the most disappointing experience I’ve had at a college football game. The stadium, although it holds a lot of people, looks absolutely tiny compared to most SEC stadiums, and the design doesn’t hold noise very well. From street level, it looks about the same size as Vandy’s stadium, but when you walk in, half or more of the seating is below you.
Super lame.
Super lame.

The Swamp
I thought it was a good atmosphere. I was there back when Tebow was playing, so we obviously lost. It was one of the louder venues I’ve been to. Outside of Tiger Stadium, maybe the loudest. The most hype the fans got the entire game was for Mr. Two Bits. He was impressive.
I thought South Carolina was overrated, tbh. The stadium was off campus. The music was all piped in. We never heard the band. The crowd was ok.
We woke up at eight, and we thought we overslept, so we rushed to get out to the tailgate. It turns out LSU fans were the only ones out there until around noon.

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice stadium, but it's "greatness" rests solely on it's size. I always see it in Top 5 rankings and I just don't think it has the character of other stadiums to be up there.

Alabama: Very nice venue. Better than some pro stadiums. And of course, every fan of Bama knows everything about football. Not overated.
Auburn: It's a larger stadium, but it felt very tyco erector set like. The Eagle before the game flying around the stadium is very cool. Not overated.
Arkansas: Like their other sports facilities, very good. Not the largest. Doesn't have to be. Pretty dang loud place for the opposition. Not overated.
Florida: Never been
Georgia: I like Sanford Stadium. Fans are cordial. Not overated.
Kentucky: Never been
LSU: It's an old, delapiated stadium. It smells, it's uncomfortable and the fans are loud and obnoxious. NOT OVERATED. It's what a college stadium should be.
Miss. St. As a Reb, I'm in the minority here, but I think what MSU has done with their stadium vs. where it was is night and day. I think overall, it's a nice facility and if State is winning, they have the unfair advantage of "ringing responsibly". Not overated.
South Carolina. Never been
Tennessee. I hate this stadium. It's like LSU's with Tiny seats and big hair. OVERATED.
TAMU: I haven't been since the latest additions. The time I went, it was loud, but kinda meh. Prior to the renovation for me is overated. Now: No opinion.
Vandy. That stadium sucks. Period. Can't be overated, cause it ain't rated.
Mizzou: Been once. It was loud the time I was there. I'm on the fringe on this one...it's neither rated or overated.
Ole Miss: Yes, I am an Ole Miss fan. I think our stadium is bad. I wouldn't tear sections down and renovate, I'd demolish and build a new one.

Agreed on the Swamp. I lived in Gainesville for a little over a decade and while I went to tailgate every gameday weekend with my coworkers, I rarely went into the stadium itself for the game. It needs some work.

Not SEC, but I’ve always heard FSU was bad. The exterior is nice brick, but the inside is a major disappointment.

This isn't me picking on Texas at all; howver, DKR is the most overrated stadium that I've ever attended a game at.
The stadium is nice in most respects, but for a large university with a rich tradition, the crowd is among the quietest I've ever heard.
DKR is absolutely no match for SEC stadiums when it comes to crowd noise. Even L.A. Coliseum, when the Trojans are down, is more noisy than DKR.

UGA for me. Granted I went to a noon kick off game when they were favored heavily against my Vols. Was actually a very competitive game and UGA ended up winning by just a field goal. But I was severely underwhelmed by the lack of energy in between the hedges that day. The acoustics or something are out of whack at that stadium. Plus I thought the general design is kinda meh. The upper decks there are so gaudy, ridiculously far away from the field, and disproportionately small looking compared to the rest of the stadium.

A few notes. I have been to many campuses and stadiums over the last 40+ years, I will note the ones I thought were nice experiences and those that were over-rated. Others were not really great or bad
By conference:
Big 10: Iowa, Penn State, Maryland, Wisconsin, Nebraska
Michigan - Over rated, this stadium is like a granite quarry with metal benches around the edges. The site lines are horrible, and unlike most stadiums that go "up", this stadium's seating goes "out", such that the further back you go you move much further from the field. In fact you can fit the width of almost two full regulation fields between the edge of the field and the back of the stands. It is ridiculous. The facilities are old and crowded.
Penn State- This is THE loudest venue I've ever attended. The whiteout game vs. Ohio State in 2018 was CRAZY.
Wisconsin- A great venue, not as loud or crazy as Happy Valley, but when they play jump around it is something special. It was also BONE cold and this place was packed and loud.
Nebraska- I have not been to Lincoln since they joined the Big 10, but I was there twice in the 80's and it was a great place, some of the most friendly fans I've experienced as the visiting fan of an arch-rival.
Big 12: OU, Texas, Texas Tech, Okie Lite, TCU
A lot of meh.
OU is a decent venue, I have seen it loud, but recently the fans are lethargic except for Bedlam, that is by far the loudest and most emotionally involved the fans get year to year at home. The new updates and area make it a good place to see a game. I am hoping entry into the SEC will invigorate fans. My experience is that OU travels really well, and its travelling fans are much louder and emotionally involved than the home crowd. I think it is because it has been so long since there was truly an important game played there. The last two games that really got raucous (other than Bedlam) was tOSU and Texas Tech in 2008 when they came into Norman 10-0.
Taco Tech- This place is a HORRIBLE venue, it is small, cramped and the fans are the worst in the Big 12. If you get out of here without having some bit of taco thrown at you, consider yourself lucky.
Texas- like everyone else said, quiet. This is probably a result of the fans experience of 10 years of beatdowns and losses to average and poor teams at home.
SEC: Ole Miss, LSU, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, MSU, Vandy,
Ole Miss- Holds sentimental value for me, but it is not a great stadium to watch a game in. The grove and tailgating is a great scene.
State- Sh*thole, which I hear has been renovated into a newer Sh*thole.
Tennessee has to fall in the overrated bin, as has been mentioned, they really pinched pennies to get that capacity, the seats are tiny, such that I found myself bending my shoulders forward the entire time I was seated.
LSU- I've been to three night games in BR, and it is the only scene I think that rivals Penn State. I didn't think it was quite as loud as the white out game I attended, but the tailgating, which begins the night before and continues all night and day to game time makes this a raucous crowd.
PAC: UCLA, Colorado
The Rose Bowl was a huge disappointment. I have been there twice, once in the Rose Bowl game, and the other for a UCLA home game. This place is kind of like the Big House but smaller and not so wide. But it goes "out" in the same way, so there are less good seats that are close to the field. When I was there as an OU fan a few years back, there were quite literally more OU fans there than UCLA fans and this is no exaggeration. It is also old, and the facilities are very dated.
Independents: BYU, Navy, ND
BYU was a great visit. The field is smallish, but the scenery is breathtaking, and the fans are extremely friendly. Was a fun time.
Navy- Anyone who has a chance to go see a Navy game, I'd suggest it for the ceremony alone. Annapolis is a GREAT place to see a game and spend time.
ND- A lot of history, and getting to see the ND band and stuff was pretty cool, but the stadium is "meh". Also, South Bend is "meh" as well.

UF was a major disappointment. I even went to the Florida/LSU game.
Probably a case of Florida alums I worked with talking like it was the greatest experience in sports. Wouldn’t even make my top 10.

Several that deserve mention:
Nebraska: Most of the seats are in the endzone, and a long ways away from the field. Then, you have to go all the way down to the bottom for concessions and restrooms. Nice fans, but that doesn't make up for the crappy seating. And, don't get me started on Runza sandwiches.
Colorado: On TV, they talk about the view of the Flat Irons. While the town has some nice views, most of the seats in the stadium do not. The visitor's seats are terrible -- the stadium was originally a horseshoe with a track, and the visitor's seats are beyond the back line of the endzone. On the west side, the concessions were all inside the old fieldhouse, which is a dump (and which limits the sideline seating--they should really knock this thing down). The fans are awful -- the students are mostly California kids who couldn't get into a good school and are a bunch of low class punks.
Tennessee: Admittedly, I went to Knoxville during covid, so I didn't see Neyland in form, but, it was bad enough with 10,000 people, I can't imagine how bad it is with 100,000. For OU and Texas fans, this place is the Cotton Bowl without the attraction of the State Fair. They really need to do a complete rebuild of this place like A&M did with Kyle Field. Knoxville is a nice town, and I guess taking a boat to the stadium sounds neat, but the stadium itself is a dump.

Just the stadium itself, Tennessee. It's basically an Erector set. It makes for some odd-shaped bathrooms and concession stands as they work around the girders.
It's a good atmosphere, but an old stadium.
