I assumed that when we added OU and Texas, that Sankey and everyone had all of this crap figured out.

I’m betting Texas-OU @ the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, 2nd week in October, was a package deal.

Texas and OU gladly give up a home game every year to play in Dallas.

I prefer college football games to be played on campus in 99% of cases. The cocktail party is not one of them. That’s one of my favorite games each year, I’m not sure what it is about it being in Jacksonville but that’s where it belongs.

So because 39% of 1283 votes of Twitter which has a much more younger liberal following says they want it moved. The majority of fans want it moved?

Put it this way, the game ain’t moving.
Why? 2 reasons!

1. UGA makes more more with the game in Jacksonville, twice as much.
2. The impact of the south ga and coastal economy. Also, the amount of big donors in south ga want the game in Jax.

The only ones who complain about the game with all their spins of what Smart said or other reasons; only really want it moved for 1 selfish reason. It’s not included in their season tickets. They don’t want to drive from Atlanta to the game and they prefer to have it in Athens for their own personal gain!

ITS NOT MOVING!!!

and Mike Griffith is a complete idiot!

The list recruiting big game and all the other non sense is bull.
Why?
Because, UGA is the designated Home team for its 3 biggest rivalries in the same year, so last year when they were the designated visitor for all 3 , we go and schedule a neutral site game. Recruiting weekends must not be that important!

UGA needs a to move one of the rivals , specifically Auburn who the SEC let play back to back home games against UGA the last expansion, back to the opposite year. And that fixes this problem.

Good lord. This kind of thinking is what is killing college football. Georgia gets the same amount of tickets as Florida. South GA and J'vile is FULL of Dawg fans. It isn't like they are traveling cross country.
Pat Dye used some bullshitee that Legion Field was astro turf and Auburn ONLY played like 5 other games a year on it so they weren't as used to it.

What will decide the cocktail party location is the same thing that decided the Iron Bowl...M-O-N-E-Y. Getting Bama to Auburn was going to bring benefits to that school unimagined. Its all about money.
Traditions be damned.

having been to the WLOCP, it would be a shame to have this home and home. It is an event, damn near a holiday. Like the Iron Bowl USED to be.

I think youre missing what I am saying. Every other East team has to go to Athens and to the Swamp every other year. For sake of fairness, Florida should have to go to Athens and UGA should have to go to the swamp.

whatever keep your silly tradition but its never made a ton of sense to me.

It certainly wouldnt make sense if UGA fans got their way and got a Home-Neutral setup. That would be stupid

once again, why does everything have to be equal across the board? So people don't get their feelings hurt? Why don't we complain that nobody else plays in jacksonville? why doesn't the rest of america complain about these opening kickoff classic neutral site games since everyone else on the schedule has to play those temas at their home stadium but the opponent in the opener gets to play them in a neutral venue?

Not eveyrhing has to be the exact equal same across the board all the time.

and this is really all you had to say. You're jealous or mad or whatever that we have one of the best traditions in CFB and you don't like it. It's not silly and it makes a whole lot of sense to the people actually involved with it.

You think it is unfair to gamecock football that UGA does not get a homefield advantage against the gators and that the gators dont get a homefield advantage against the bulldawgs?

That is your argument?

The gamecocks get homefield advantage against the bulldawgs (something the gators dont get).
The gamecocks get homefield advantage againsy the gators (something the bulldawgs dont get).
And this is a slight against gamecock football?

Lol
Wow.
How miserable of a person are you that this is what is holding the legendary gamecock football team down from reaching that next level of success?

Are we really still whining about this? It's 2022, not 1937. Travel is easy and comfortable and that flight is probably shorter than Florida's bus ride, honestly.

Our guys bus from their homes to ben epps airport down the street then fly the 45-60 minute trip to jacksonville. Florida players get on a bus and make an hour bus ride. The location is not an advantage for florida's team in any way whatsoever considering the above plus the fact the tickets are split equally.

Just one more good thing is gonna be flushed down the shitter I guess. No more "property being destroyed down there in St. Simons Island and Jeckle, and all those places Dawg fans keep their money in state" on Cocktail Party week. Breaks my heart, and that ain't no joke. Maybe co-cola can build a 90,000-seat American football-only stadium down here in Costa Rica just for that game only each year.

I get what you’re saying but most of us prefer the tradition and uniqueness of the game.

The people who want the game moved are the same ones who would scratch their heads and wonder why a game between unranked Florida and a top 10 Georgia team doesn't get the 3:30 treatment anymore.

It wouldn't be the WLOCP anymore if it moved to home/home. It would become just another game on the schedule. I don't think a lot of people realize that.

Which is fine and why it will probably stay.

but for some fans to act like fairness in high level competition doesnt matter is a little silly. Is it a huge deal, probably not but other schools in the East have a small claim to complain.

Doesn't UGA only have classes 2 days the week of the game?
