He’ll be the next head coach at ucf after gus takes over an acc school.

This occurs after he gets fired from miss st. for putting almonds in his coke instead of peanuts, and being .500

He's not a great coach but he can get a bad team to a few above average seasons.

So if you're ok with
5-7
7-5
6-6
9-3
6-6

Patterns, keep him

It's Mike Leach. It's the kind of coach you get when you fire a guy after only 2 years.

Sir, Florida is a mess. That doesnt count haha.

I am all for the guy staying put, keeps the good interviews coming, and keeps MSU at an average level

Leach is a good coach who changed the culture by running guys off and they will be better next year. However, I will guarantee that if Ole Miss didn’t have a better hire so to speak or just won 10 games and had a coach that had similar results to Leach that it wouldn’t be a topic. Ole Miss surging the past two seasons has hurt State fans opinion on him.

Of course they believe Kiffin walked into a stud qb whenever he was a back up the year before and was made fun of for backing teammates up in an Egg Bowl brawl. There’s obviously a lot more but I don’t need to get into that right now.

Not a bad take, but I'd take it a step further and mention Arkansas who hired Pittman the same year. He inherited a team that was in a worse state and has them playing better. He even beat State twice.

“I will probably want him replaced if he doesn’t get at least 8 wins. It’s a year he should be fully loaded. I haven’t liked how our teams often look unprepared or not together.”

What a dumb statement. Yes the end (last two games) of the season was disappointing. But the team made great progress compared to 2020.

It helps to take things in context. He has had to revamp the roster to fulfill his offense.

To the poster that said he is a mediocre coach that does not recruit, that is completely ridiculous. He has a twenty year history of winning football games.

He is going to be successful at State over the long haul. This year I believe we will take another step towards that greater success.

Leach is a known commodity at this point. You know what he brings to the table. He's going to lose a game or two each year that are complete head scratchers. He is going to win a game or two each year that folks thought his team would get murdered in. It will balance out to a lot of decent seasons with a few really good ones thrown in.

His big issue is that his teams tend to come out flatter than the Kansas prairie in rivalry games. The Egg Bowl could be a problem going forward.

The thing is... who is out there that can do better? Because you can do a lot worse. We fired Bert because he was lousy and hired Chad Morris.. who made Bert look like the second coming of Bear Bryant. If MSU lets Leach go it is entirely possible they spend the next ten years in football hell.

Don't see him getting better then 7-5 or 8-4, which is fine at State.

Where do you honestly think you can get 8-9 wins next year? OOC schedule is easy so 4-0 there SEC Schedule

Georgia and Bama are the only guaranteed losses there.

LSU is rebuilding
Auburn sucks
We own A&M and UK
Arkansas is a toss up
Ole Miss you can’t ever tell they won’t have Corral

7-5 is winning football, doesnt mean its going to elevate your program. There is a very clear ceiling with Leach. So good luck, enjoy him, but yall won't compete with him

He is almost exactly what I thought he would be?

He's going to win between 6-9 games every season. He'll win a few he shouldn't. He'll lose a few he shouldn't. He'll get blasted in bowl games.

State has a tough 2022:

v. Memphis
at Arizona
at LSU
v. Bowling Green
v. A&M
v. Arkansas
at Kentucky
at Alabama
BYE WEEK
v. Auburn
v. Georgia
v. ETSU
at Ole Miss

I expect Mississippi State to surprise some teams next year.

The standard Leach progression is for his team to become very dangerous and possibly a contender in his third year. I think it will be different at State, but only because Saban is still at Bama (so winning the division is likely off the table.)

Winning 9-10 games is certainly possible, based on his previous jobs.

If he wins 7 games next year State should be happy.

I see a 6-6 record for State next season

we (state) are all over the map offensively. its feast or famine with this team and its inconsistent and frustrating. Games under leach that you would think the team would come out emotionally charged and ready to play have been turds (egg bowl and leach bowl), which is the most concerning thing for me moving forward, but the team is young. 8 wins should be there. we get UGA from the east and its in Lexington, which has been a more difficult trip as UK improves. gonna have to earn it this season baws.
