ESPN + is ok but the SEC deserves better

They’re in the middle of play in tournaments for basketball. End of season games that matter > early season baseball games imo. They have some SEC baseball games on ESPN later this year.

March Madness is upon us and you want college baseball to be featured on ESPN? Really?

March Madness starts when the conference tournaments start. CBS may hold the rights to the name but it’s already started.

Dude. We have march madness and the NBA. You think America wants a niche sport like college baseball over that? The womens softball CWS drew more viewers last year than the mens CWS. They might as well shut the doors at ESPN if they did that.

College baseball in general should be.
It feels like
They show 10x more softball

That’s because they do. A big part of it is the ESPNW bullshite, but another reason is softball is faster paced than baseball. Smaller field, very few if any pitching changes, lots of action.
If you can mute out the cheers, it’s actually a lot of fun to watch

Nobody cares about college baseball, relatively, and even less outside of this conference and when just about any other sport is in action. SEC baseball homers are annoyingly cultish.

Would imagine softball had higher TV ratings than college baseball.
The women's college world series also has higher ratings than the college world series.

It’s been here for a week since they started playing conference tournaments.

Big college baseball fan here, and I agree it should get better coverage on ESPN and SECN, but we're in baseball non-conference preseason and I think the conference tournaments, even the smaller ones, are exciting right now.
On the other hand, I'm sick of them forcefeeding the softball and womens basketball. Those should NEVER be aired instead of baseball. I'd rather watch Kentucky Wesleyan vs. Covenant College play baseball than the SEC softball or WBasketball championship game.

You say "nobody cares about college baseball", but that doesn't have to be the case. There are a lot of people who would root for THEIR TEAM, no matter what. Could be cornhole, could be bass fishing. I guarantee this is not just an SEC thing, I bet you when Michigan made the CWS finals a fair amount of Big Blue fans noticed. They may not have attended, but I bet there was some alumni chatter.
Schools like Ohio State, Notre Dame, etc; they have rabid fans. If they became good at a sport, they would start to notice it.
Now, you take a sport like baseball, where there's lots of awareness in general of the sport- and I think there's potential for a breakthrough. We saw it in the SEC, multiple schools now care.
I think if the weather allowed the Big 10 to compete, they'd be more interested. I think baseball could easily pass women's basketball.

This occurred like 1 or 2 years and people act like it’s the historical norm. If anything softball has moved closer to baseball, but it hasn’t historically had more viewers.

ESPN was built on college baseball.

Quick google shows that WCWS has had better ratings the last 2 years. In 2021 viewership was 60% higher than the CWS. WCWS has had higher ratings 4 out of the last 7 years.
