Planning a loop through Michigan, Mackinac Island across the upper peninsula and back through Wisconsin, would appreciate some tips. We have interest in:

-Remnants of old auto plants (including abandoned)
-Mackinac Island (one day max)
-A good shipwreck museum
-Scenic natural coastal sites and small towns/villages
-Historic sites

I plan on keeping past the 7 year mark, tend to baby my vehicles mechanically. No jackrabbit starts, excessive speed, heavy braking, etc. Light offroad use but not a ton. No towing, at least in the foreseeable future. Primarily highway or rural miles.

And my supposition was not b/c of our AD's children, rather his views and his wife's known outspokenness.
