You will have your skyscreamers and fearmongering media who will raise a stink about this leading up to and through the first few days of the World Cup. But once the tournament gains some steam, it will go on largely without a hitch, a champion will be crowned and people will talk about it for a few weeks.

This is the usual cycle for pretty much every major sporting event that is held in a country where the infrastructure can support it.

Don't get me wrong, FIFA has done an absolute terrible job in how they've presented this tournament and how they are marketing it. But, the World Cup is still the grandest sporting spectacle in the world, no amount of bullshite and bad marketing can frick that up.
