re: What is your bar for describing this World Cup as "successful" for USMNT?

but it’s also reductive at this point to call the tournament a failure if we lose to Belgium.
Not calling it a failure, that would’ve been not making it out the group.
But this is our best chance, likely in our lifetimes, that we have to win the World Cup. Home soil and every team outside of France seems to have a wart.
We need to make the quarters for this to be a success.

I consider this tournament to be a success for the USMNT already.
Nope, this is a held serve tournament for us so far. We make the R16 all the time away from home soil.
Gotta make the quarters for this to be a true watershed moment for the federation

The shock of all shocks that you’re first post in an ATL Thread is after a win, calling out another poster for their take.
But heaven forbid someone bring up your countless terrible takes. (Hello Michael Harris)
Ho behavior.
Happy that Iggy got his first AS selection, but let’s be real, Lee deserves it way more than him
Most run support Sale has gotten compared to like his last a million games combined

Davies must’ve reinjured himself, no other reason for him to still not be in this game
Au revoir Canadia

What was up with the Morrocan player laying down during the free kick?
Block a low shot so the wall can jump
Poor from David, basically went down the middle

Jesse leaving Davies on the bench is certainly a choice

Serious question - how would you have dealt with the chippiness/physicality of both teams different that what Michael Oliver did?
Given more yellows to Canada to make this an actual match.
It's clear they are not there to play and are there to fight. 15 fouls in the first half is despicable.
Canada 15 fouls, 2 yellows
Morocco 6 fouls, 4 yellows
Morocco 6 fouls, 4 yellows
