He’s been linked by Matt Norlander as “allegedly” open to considering it…but would he leave us at 63?
For the record- I say no. I don’t think he will.

With ucla’s shite NIL situation, Cronin will end up back east… either at UL or Oh St.
I don’t see Pearl leaving… he’s old and has his family in auburn… using openings as leverage wouldn’t be a surprise tho.

We need to just get used to Pearl being linked to any decent opening. I don’t see him leaving unless we just absolutely fumble things. He is on track to go down as potentially the greatest coach in Auburn history, having the arena named after him, and being an Auburn legend. He’s getting to coach with his son who is most likely the heir apparent. His pregnant daughter just moved to Auburn.
Given his age he is limited on the years he has left to coach which likely rules out the big schools if they have an opening because they are going to want longevity. That means any opening would likely be another rebuild for him.
Now I also expect him to leverage almost every job opening to get the things he wants and needs. He did it two years ago to get the budget to pay his staff a competitive salary. I’m sure he’s going to use these others to get the basketball only facility and more NIL (both areas we are way behind the big boys on).

Doubtful unless Indiana, Kansas, North Carolina maybe really ponied up.

Any coach would leave their school if the administration screws it up bad enough.
Even Kirby would leave Georgia if his bosses screwed him over.
Does Bruce ever want to leave Auburn? No.
Is Bruce going to play games with our athletic department like Tubs and Gus? No
Can our athletic department screw up and change his mind? Yes.
I hope they don’t.

Only reason I would see Bruce leaving is if they told him that once he did retire that Steven wouldn’t be the coach in waiting. That’s what Bruce and Steven to happen. For Bruce to retire and Steven to just move up to HC.

I don't think so. He has a good situation at Auburn. He is held in high esteem and says he loves it there. It is not easy to start over again at 63.

Bruce has said all the right things regarding the football program getting lot of the near term upgrades in facilities.
You never know just how much is holding him here...

You nailed it, but I would make one change.
He’s getting to coach with his son who is Without Doubt the heir apparent. (Understand this has been promized)

Will his son be a solid candidate? No flame- genuine curiosity. I don’t follow the staff that close.

I think that there are only a few programs that I would worry about Bruce leaving AU to coach. The standard blue blood list, Ohio State isn't on it.
I do think he'll leverage every mention of his name by other schools to keep AU building the program and keep his staff happy.

Not sure anyone really knows. Basketball is different from football where you have an OC or DC that have a big reputation and work their way up. The only potential HCs that fans will have any feeling on are going to be current HCs.
From what I gather Steven is a really good scout and comes up with a lot of the defensive game plans. He also works with our bigs, which the results speak for themselves there. No one knows whether he can run a program though. Two schools of thought there. Either you go to a small school and cut your teeth there, or you stay an assistant and learn from a successful HC. Im not sold either way. Pros and cons to each.

I would be fine with the hire when BP retires

I think a lot depends on this new apparel deal. Luckily it looks like things are trending in he right direction for that.

Was just about to say, I think Bruce has quietly forced AU admin to Nike. Combine that with AUs proximity to Atlanta - Bruce will have a good thing going with recruiting and won’t have to travel across country all the time.
