Yeah Hoke said things are heavily trending towards Nike and that Auburn is more focused now on how to handle the announcement with Nike while also making sure they are fulfilling their contractual obligations with UA.

Also said if AU goes with Nike that Tim Cook probably deserves some credit. He's on the board for Nike.

I'm surprised no one is mentioning the "lifetime" contract that Allen Greene gave him in 2022. He signed that thing and said Auburn was his home. He's not going anywhere.

Only reason I would see Bruce leaving is if they told him that once he did retire that Steven wouldn’t be the coach in waiting. That’s what Bruce and Steven to happen. For Bruce to retire and Steven to just move up to HC.

This would be a HORRIBLE mistake. Most sons that take over for their dads aren't good coaches... Murray Bartow and Joey Meyer come to my mind first.

Honestly, If Bruce was to leave... I'd love to get Bucky McMillan someday. I know Bucky. He can coach his arse off. I don't know if we'd be his first stop straight from Samford, but he's gonna be a GREAT one.

Agreed on Bucky but I don’t think the timing is gonna work out for us on that front. He’ll have a great job within 2 years and I see Bruce coaching 4-6 more

Depends on his goals here at Auburn. If he has accomplished everything he wanted and still has some juice in the tank and wants to rebuild another program, he'll leave.

Personally, I dont see it happening. Bruce and Auburn are a great fit. Plus if he stays a few more years he will have a statue and a building named after him. Hard to pass on a statue being erected in your honor to be displayed for all time

I would rather have Bucky as the next HC (Samford and ex-Mtn Brk coach) before Steven Pearl.

I think Steven has a chance to be a really good coach but I hate the idea of promising him a job. Granted, we are Auburn, and if that’s what it takes to get another 5 years out Bruce it’s wayyyyy more than worth the risk down the road.

In a perfect world Steven would take a job for the next 3-5 years and if he showed promise wherever he went we could then give him the inside track

I agree with all of this.

I think (because of Bruce) Auburn is a much better job than it was. As a result, we should be able to hire a proven head coach after Bruce.

But, in respect for what Bruce has done, I would give his son a shot at it. As long as Bruce agreed to be the AD.

Not unless it's being carried out in a pine box.
