Think it might be a Mike G relative?

Nah, not related at all. I just happen to put more stock in what he says compared to a lot of the others. if you guys don't like him, then that's your problem, not mine.

Mike G has been wrong about more shite than anybody on this board. He was a Bo Nix hater and loved TJ Finley if that tells you anything.

Nothing was more absurd than the Dee Davis train that he was pushing. That kid was never higher than 3rd on the depth chart and by all accounts looked like crap in practice, and every week Mike G was talking him up as if he was the next Kyler Murray.

He has really really bad takes. The overtop glazing of T-Will and trying to push him as the future Auburn DC was also hilarious.

This would be a good hire! Dude has Vanderbilt on pace for their first 10 win season EVER. But he didn't beat Bama so those wins are meaningless, but when we're talking about Riley winning ~8 games at USC you're supposed to be really impressed because they have to travel a lot, and apparently its harder to win at USC than it is at Vanderbilt (which has a rich, storied history of football success).

Alan Head also said that Lea was very impressive in his interview :)

I think Mike G was actually responding directly to me with his latest video. Last week he said on his podcast that all candidates had agreed to Faulkner as the OC. If you dig back a few pages I was going off for like a day and a half about what I perceived his statement to mean.. in his latest podcast he starts it off by addressing the perception some have that the AD is choosing coordinators blah blah blah.. that spawned this 24 hour meltdown that everyone has been having.. Imo, he was probably scrolling through this board looking for content angles and lifted it straight out of this thread.. I think we can probably dial back the melts just a bit.

Would be a B- hire. Way better than most of the backups being thrown around or Durkin.

I didn’t know he was even on our radar but he’d be a good hire.

He was the mystery candidate mentioned previously.

I would not hate it.

I think my main concern with him would be apparent lack of regional ties. I also think the Cignetti comparison is overly simplistic and sets unrealistic expectations.

I am just not seeing why all of these people are crazy for Sumrall. There are folks on the board scoffing at PROVEN SEC coaches, but they're talking like an up and coming G5 coach is the solution. I'm not saying Sumrall would be a bad hire, (but to me) the only thing that makes him a top hire is Ole Miss and several others being interested. People talked like James Franklin (a guy who was in the playoffs last year) would've been a disappointment and a guy who might win 10 games at Vanderbilt would be a Subpar hire. Many of these same folks somehow feel more confident in a dude who's winning in the AAC. I don't get it guys, but hope I'm dead wrong.

The problem with Lea is Pavia. Who knows what they would be without him. Hard to know

He was 9-27 (2-22 in the SEC) from 2021-2023. Pretty crappy, even by Vandy standards.
